The Indian Army has begun the process of upgrading four regiments of its T-90S main battle tanks by ordering about 400 units each of the following hardware.
The upgraded T-90S MBTs will be deployed with the Indian Army's Combat Group formations in Ladakh and Sikkim. The E-LynX SDRs will replace the existing TADIRAN CNR-900M vehicular high-power radios.
And the following are two of the 12 fast interceptor craft that Goa Shipyard Ltd is delivering to the Indian Army for deployment in Panggong Tso Lake.
For those interested in the period leading to the May 2020 standoff in eastern Ladakh, this webinar has some interesting revelations:

ReplyDeleteHave you since, changed your opinion on an India-China war? Is it now more along the lines of what Pravin Sawhney postulates, whose views on the nature of the conflict and the outcome of one such are too well known by now, for me to repeat them here?
P.S. Dammit! Whenever I feel like putting up a comment here to expose the shameless Congi bootlicker and plagiarizer-in-chief, Prasunda creates a new blog which pours cold water over all of my plans. *Shrugs*

This is quite an announcement. Although, various US commentators are suggesting that this is merely a ruse. I wonder why would a thorough state asset like a sleuth decide to come clean now. The US state is slowly lifting the veil of something?
Thanks,

To ABS: LoLz! My views are mine & are not borrowed from anyone else. And what are my views? Simply stated, China will not initiate any kind of full-contact conventional war against India before initiating hostilities against Taiwan. And this is because any full-contact military hostilities with India will fully expose the weaknesses of the PLA, which Taiwan & its allies will fully exploit to their advantage. Even against Taiwan, the PLA for obvious reasons will never militarily invade Taiwan, but will initiate & sustain only an economic blocade by military means, as explained here:

India’s ‘strategic community’ is unnecessarily going into a tizzy due to this video. Sound common-sense dictates that the PA will employ TNWs only in the Chicken’s Neck area INSIDE Pakistan’s sovereign territory as a first-strike option & that’s precisely the PA’s Nasr TNWs are located at Pasrur Cantonment near Sialkot.

the utaam radar seems to be coming to a finality wherein the SAR mode has been developed finally. The SAR mode seems to be the most difficult to solve which i believe has been done
as we now have the most challenging algorithms in place,,, will it not be easy to make out own JSTARS by upscaling the radar and processing hardware?
why cant we use the netra configuration antenna? as a test bed . will the A321 be enough for the purpose or we need a bigger platform?.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your response. This seeds another question in my mind. If China can't afford to wage a war against India, why would they test our deterrence? They are dead sure that we would not force China out of the land they have devoured?

Prasun sir,
ReplyDelete1) Does India possess (or need) the kind of mechanised trench diggers that the russian army's used to build their fortification in ukraine?
2) How many Z motion trinetra loitering munition did the Indian army order recently?
How is this different from the nagastra ordered a few months ago? Isn't it better for logistics to focus on one type of loitering munition for one purpose?
I would love to know your opinion on the previous queries I asked. I have repeated them below.
3) Eric Schmidt recently said russia is downing over 500 ukrainian drones (mainly small quadcopters) per day, due to its electronic warfare.
He also said that the width of area that the russian electronic warfare is only 5km, but covers the entire 1500km frontline.
Does India have such EW capabilities to tackle china or pak?
4) What types of EW systems is russia
using to do this?
5) How many Samyuktha electronic warfare systems have been delivered to the Indian military so far?
6) There was news in 2013, that Tata power SED had been contracted to provide two integrated Mountain EW systems, have these been delivered? Can you share some details about them?
Hi Prasun, what do you suggest on Indian military assistance to Armenia, will we be giving akash, atgm, kamakazi drones and aircrafts in future besides atags and pinaka.
ReplyDeleteHow will Panaka with 60 km range and atags strengthen the Armenian military since
To RAD: X-band MMRs with SAR mode of operation is used primarily for ground mapping & ground moving target indication (GMTI), with the targets being transportation infrastructure like roads & railway tracks. The R & D challenge is not development of such modes of operation, but instead are the development of clutter rejection algorithms. As for battlefield surveillance, Ku-band SAR sensor has been developed by DRDO & here they are:

Regarding the IAF’s future AEW & CS procurements, the disinformation was spread by this website:
https://www.livefistdefence.com/a330-awacs-plan-shelved-india-to-go-narrow-body/
In reality, four A321s will receive a modified version of mission avionics that now exist on the 3 EMB-145I AEW & CS platforms. Following that, a widebody airframe will be selected for housing the radome-mounted antenna-array, as explained in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4coh7GByuQ&t=86s

ABS: China isn’t testing India’s deterrence, for it knows that India’s military force modernisation & development of border transportation/habitat infrastructure is far behind that of China. That’s why it had the decisive advantage as a first-mover in April/May 2020 along eastern & southern Ladakh. One small example illustrates this: have you ever come across any IA exercise that involved the deployment of SS-150 Prithvi SS-BSMs to either Ladakh or Himachal Pradesh or Sikkim or Assam or Arunachal Pradesh? What were the reasons for their non-deployments to such areas?
To HARSH: 1) No. 2) The answers are here:
https://imrmedia.in/indian-army-issues-rfi-for-aerial-targeting-system-and-loitering-munitions/
https://indiandefenseanalysis.com/2023/05/08/after-army-indian-air-force-inducts-1st-batch-of-als-50-loitering-munitions/
3) No, India does not possess such capabilities since the IA & IAF have not yet made meaningful investments in electronic-attack & electronic air-defence capabilities. 4) These are the ones:
Lancet Drone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02l4In7P97s
Drozd Drone Detector: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVdzYRuzWLA
Hortensia UAV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MejtekzaiCc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hy3-GhVjrIM
Krasukha-4 EW System: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgLL0HMpP_E
5) They are deployed with all Strike & Pivot Corps formations of the IA.
6) That is the Him Shakti system. Elements of them are still being delivered.
To PARTHASARATHI: Such podded electric propulsion systems were actually development for cruise liners & luxury yachts/vessels almost 20 years ago. They won’t be suitable for warships.
ReplyDeleteTo JUST_CURIOUS: 1 & 2) R-R made the same offer as SAFRAN. As I had explained earlier, no foreign OEM will commit suicide by creating another business competitor through the sharing of IPRs. 3) Because it is not reqd. Typical MBT vs MBT engagements on future battlefields involving the IA will take place over a distance of only 700 metres or 900 metres. As I had stated earlier, the IA won’t be fighting in urban terrain & hence long-range MBT vs MBT engagements won’t take place. 4) LR-LACM’s SLCM variant is a long way away & hence Scalp’s submarine-launched version will be procured by the IN.
To JOYDEEP GHOSH: 1) IAF’s MiG-29UPGs too will be retiring at the same time as the IN’s MiG-29Ks. 2) Regardless of which turbofan is powering Su-30MKIs, fact remains that the wing-loadings will be the same & hence Su-30MKI won’t be able to carry BrahMos-As under its wings. Only BrahMos-NGs can be carried underwing, even by Tejas Mk.1. 4) In case the AMCA Mk.1 is delayed, then the IAF can be expected to opt for 4 squadrons of TEDBF’s land-based variant.
To VENKY: Both FMBT/FRCV & Light Tanks will appear only early in the nxt decade. The IA requires at least 700 Arjun Mk.2s till then.
To AMIT BISWAS: Dhruti RWRs built by BEL & DARE/ELBIT-developed MAWS built by BEL as well. Installation work done by Chandigarh-based BRD.
To SATYAKI: It is important to follow the sequential timelines of BM procurements of Iran & Pakistan in order to understand what has been happening since 1989. Pakistan acquired the M-9 & M-11 BMs (DF-11s & DF-15s) from China after India since 1984 began developing the SS-150 Prithvi SS-BSMs. In December 1993 Pakistan acquired about 40 Nodong-1/Ghauri BMs from DPRK to offset Iran’s growing arsenal of Shahab-1 BMs of North Korean origin. It was only AFTER India’s testing of Agni-2 BM in 1999 that Pakistan began procuring the Shaheen-2/DF-25. Interestingly, Iran’s arsenal of BM began growing both horizontally & vertically AFTER Pakistan began expanding its inventory of China-origin BMs. But since China is against an arms race between Iran & Pakistan, it pressurised Pakistan to stop procuring BMs from North Korea & disallowed the fielding of China-origin BMs against Iran at places like Khuzdaar in Balochistan province. But Pakistan has managed to built such missile bases with North Korean technical assistance, which continues till this day. But since Iranian oil supplies to North Korea is vital for Pyongyang, North Korea continues to wholeheartedly support Iran’s BM inventory expansion. Consequently, Pakistan will not receive any ICBMs or WMD-related technical assistance/supply from North Korea & certainly both China & the US won’t allow Pakistan to acquire ICBMs as this will pose an existential threat to Israel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDPUmqnXlGk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1iXaoxqsXA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdkT-HsKij4
I spoke to retired Israeli military intelligence officers who confirmed China has no objection to Pakistan acquiring ICBM. The United States and Israeli intelligence are always monitoring this situation and the minute Pakistan finalises any ICBM deal, they will hit with strikes financially and militarily. This is why most global experts believe a third world war scenario will emanate from the sub continent.

ReplyDeleteregarding your assessment on AMCA i think it is impossible to roll out mk1 before 2036 and mk2 another 6 yrs after that. means that when major powers will start moving towards 6th generation we will be getting into 5th generation
regarding your reply to ABS ss150 was never deployed in ladakh Himachal or arunachal as they were never tested in high altitude. perhaps north block has heard you so 60000 acre massive mandal thang firing range has been approved with no fly zone to test high trajectory firing of artillery and rocket. safe to say prithvi pralay prahaar brahmos atags dhanush pinaka everything will be tested here. located just south of Depsang it will help bring parity with pla.
regarding your assessment on mig29 i seriously think mig29k should be used with iaf without tailhook once Rafael m arrive and once TEDBF arrived Rafael m should be used with IAF without tailhook. why ? as you and I too say beggars can't be choosers so with no options to shore up number use what is available . also India will be benefited by opting for 4 or 5 squadrons of ORCA the TEDBF’s land-based variant.
as for what I think it is now clear IAF is not getting its hands on the 34 mig 29 from Russia (these will definitely going to iran) and neither 50 more su30 mki
correct me if wrong
thanks

ReplyDeletei think it is important that Indian navy skips 75I project and 76 project both and goes for total 12 scorpene submarine to end ssk line and then fully adopt ssn, ssbn, ssbn.
also Indian navy should allocate 2 mig 29 k for kaveri engine testing one for subsonic and other for supersonic testing
thanks

1)Pakistan even after economic issues, has joined Turkish 5th gen program, How will India balance these jets in pak hands in near future
ReplyDelete2)Pak already operates Akinci drone with Turkish made cruise missile and guided weapons?how will india respond to such systems?
3) recently india journalist saurav jha posted a pic of YJ 18 refueling tanker refueling j 10,this means they can carry full load weapons, get refuel and attack indian position elemenating their geographical disadvantage of Tibet
Your views in this regards
4) Turkish made premium weapons in pak hands , stealth cruise missile, stealth UCAV, stealth jets, how will india manage especially when we are not capable of producing them domestically
Hi Prasun
ReplyDeleteAre the leaks of scorpene data in the press some years back, of no consequence . Or did the navy make changes to the capabilities of the sub to overcome it.
ReplyDeleteHI prasun
can u elicit any information of the the proposed desi JSTAR?
in case of hostilities with china if they attack andmans ... can we attack Djibouti base if they attack Andamans? the su30mki can easily do that.
Prasun,
ReplyDeleteadding to Santosh'spoint on porkies buying weapons inspite of begging around
https://idrw.org/pakistan-showcases-taimur-air-launched-cruise-missile-alcm/ & a new cannon launched projectile named tipu.. Porkied will kill their own but keep buiybfg weapons for parity with india .. what ca be done to nullify this?
@just_curious
Deletenever be disrespectful to other nations did you ever hear use porkistan never you will hear prasun say that
you may have no respect but fact is Pakistan has been armed by China Turkey and is being helped by them to further their weapons capability but none of the major powers will help India same way. so better not abusive to them instead work on building how much weapons we can be able to make same way
thanks
Joydeep ghosh
Hi prasun da
ReplyDeleteThe UCAV like Akinci drone , TB2 and other stealth drone in Pakistan hands is a threat, though it will be juicy Target to MRSAM, xrsam,s 400,
But it will imprové paks ISR and Ew capability, through Akinci drone it can launch stealth or standoff cruise missile
How much serious is this prasun da?
Prasun da, how were these Turks able to design and develop a fifth generation aircraft on their own and were able to bring it to prototype testing phase so fast? Even Russia despite having a glorious history of developing world class fighter jets has failed in this area. The KAAN fighter looks superior to the Su-57.
ReplyDeleteTurkey is a member of NATO which gives it unlimited access to Western technology. The design and development of KAAN was done in collaboration with BAE Systems. Engine will come from Rolls Royce. Britain the great Satan has a long history of helping others Satans.
DeleteTo SATYAKI: That depends on the type of cannisters reqd by Pakistan.
ReplyDeleteTo SANTOSH: 1) Only Azerbaijan has committed to Turkey’s KAAM Gen-5 MRCA. Pakistan has already been committed to the Shenyang FC-35 Gen-5 MRCA that is now under development. 2) As I have explained numerous times before, any such UAV/UCAV will be useless when operated inside contested or hostile airspace. They will be able to operate unhindered only inside those countries tht don’t possess AAA & air forces, like Afghanistan. 3) It is the Y-20 refuelling J-16 & J-20 & here is the photo:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F2Q5a22aEAA-N-Y?format=jpg&name=4096x4096
All of the PLAAF’s plains-based air bases are located in Sichuan & Yunnan provinces, meaning thy will have to first fly over Myanmar before entering Indian airspace. Is that possible?

@sangharsh : "... most global experts believe a third world war scenario will emanate from the sub continent."
ReplyDeleteThe "experts" who express this opinion are all CIA mouthpieces, i.e. quacks/liars/full of cr@p. As things stand at present (and for the past year and a half),the most likely starting point of WW3 is in Ukraine, and the obvious one to start it would be the good old U.S. of A. You know -- the "land of the free and the home of the brave". But would these "global experts" ever admit that? Of course not. So do yourself a favor and don't blindly parrot the statements of these "experts"
