Mapping The PLAGF's Field Deployments In Eastern Ladakh

Updated GoogleEarth imagery has nolw revealed the scales of field deployment of the PLAGF Ground Forces’ two warfighting formations now deployed in eastern Ladakh—the South Xinjiang Military District’s Kashgar-based 6 Highland Mechanised Infantry Division and the  Aksu-based 4 Highland Motorised Infantry Division.

The highest concentration of forces has been in the area east of Chushul astride the Spanggur Gap, i.e. the area between the south bank of Panggong Tso Lake and the Spanggur Tso Lake. However, such a concentration over such a small area also becomes highly vulnerable to fire-assaults and effect-based operations by offensive firepower. Consequently, such a deployment by the PLAGF defies all military logic and therefore was unlikely to be pushed into combat of any kind.

Coming next is the concentration of forces in the Depsang Plains east of Burtse and the DBO ALG. And following that comes the Gogra-Hot Springs area, and then Demchok.

Meanwhile, the updated GoogleEarth imagery of Ngari-Gunsa Airport shows the on-going construction of up to 16 storm-shelters for housing MRCAs.

Also uploaded is the image of a bridge constructed by the BRO in the middle of last year for facilitating the entrance of India’s ground forces into the Galwan River-Valley.

Sir, why suddenly Russian bashing started in Desi media?
Creating the atmosphere to avoid the reason of CAATSA? Given the 2024 deadline avoiding s400 is a no-brainer, then why this bashing?

1-- Will Russia initiate any discussion to take forward its proposed access route/gas pipeline to India via tibet/wakan corridor
2-- can you share what direction will the MoD take --http://idrw.org/is-brahmos-ng-facing-competition-from-rudram-family/
3-- Will the IA order additional sig 716's over 7 above the 2 batches of 72k rifles?
4-- has HTFE engine design & testing reached acceptable levels of maturity to be considered as an option?

To DASHU: That’s lobbying for you! Money talks, after all. It had begun four years ago & leading the pack then was Dhruva Jaishankar.

To JUST_CURIOUS: 1) of course! And that also explains why China’s GLOBAL TIMES is now portraying India as being anti-BRICS & anti-SCO, obviously for the sake of sowing discord between India & Russia & India and the CARs. 2) LoLz! BrahMos-NG to be developed in India & by India? FYI the BrahMos-NG is in reality the Russia-developed 9M729 cruise missile, albeit with shorter range. 3) In December 2020, the Defence Acquisition Council had accorded approval for the procurement of additional 72,400 SIG-716 rifles for approximately Rs.780 crore. This was also done under FTP and is part of the option clause of the original deal signed in 2019. 4) For as long as the HTFE-25 does not fly on board any aircraft, till then it has to be accepted that the turbofan has not yet completed its developmental process.

To SUJOY MAJUMDAR: That writer is obviously overlooking all the activities worth several tens of thousands of crores in the arenas of nuclear power-generation in the civilian arena, the development of SSBN & SSNs & finally the Vladivostok-Chennai maritime trade corridor. This is perfectly understandable, since such ‘desi patrakaars’ are as expected totally clueless about existing ground realities.

SANTOSH: One will know ONLY AFTER such avionics is subjected to flight-tests for certification purposes.

Given our budget constraints shouldn't our strategists and decision makers be looking for solutions like this ...

Why look at an AMCA or SSN or VISHAL in isolation, why not as a combined entity with a mix of large, medium and small interwoven assets and why not develop the small and medium assets parallely

To SANGOS: LoLz! No self-respecting ground force will stay deployed in such concentration over such a limited area for eight long months as this will give the attacker more than enough time to not just pinpoint & target such areas & asstes, but also present enough time to muster forces both both defence & offense, which is exactly what the IA has done. Hence, all this clearly indicates that China's intent was not to wage war, but to tie down India's warfighting forces into a particular area for a particular period of time, in pursuance of particular objectives.

Dear Prasun,

I have a doubt regarding religiousity inspired violence. When a hindu spiritual leader is caught for any mischief, he is shunned by the entire hindu community. But the same reciprocation is not found in Muslim community. Till date Zakir Naik is still revered as an icon. Even he has replaced Mohammad with himself in the minds of the radicalized community. It's such a regressive community!!!! You can recall how in Mumbai the youths gave dharna to save Memon from hanging despite SC giving a clear verdict against them. Is GoI doing anything to deal with such radicalization?

To SANGOS: Disengagement does not mean de-escalation or de-induction. Instead, it is only increasing the distance between 2 opposing ground forces & creating a buffer-zone. They both can be back face-to-face within 48 hours. In addition, you are overlooking the fact about the IA having conducting offensive operations at forbidding altitudes back in December 1971.

To ASD: Which Hindu spiritual leader has been caught doing any mischief? All those who have been caught have been cult-preachers who were simply in the business of making money & enopying life. And all community leaders of both Sunni & Shia faiths in India have passed adverse Fatwas against Zakir Naik. As far as intellectual regression goes, I can come up with 1,000 examples for every single example that you can come up with. Here is 1 example:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ADBzkLcmxg

Hence, needless witch-hunting & communal stereotypying won’t get anyone anywhere. Instead, implementable solutions need to be found. BTW, did you know that it was Kaal Asoka that was responsible for the Brahmi inscriptions found throughout northern India, & not the Mauryan Asoka? Don’t believe it? Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To KRITAVARMA: Hopefully it will be commissioned by the year’s end. The prime engineering challenge is the achieving the stabilisation of the radars because without foolproof stabilisation, the radars won’t be able to achieve accurate flight trajectory tracking.

To SANGOS: India now has no choice but to substantially increase its deployment-levels in ladakh, since China has already built & continues to build permanent infrastructure in Aksai China & adjoining areas, like firing ranges, training grounds, SAM sites, underground logistics warehouses, heliports & garrison barracks.

To RAM: The only influential players will be those who continue to support the duly-elected Govt of Afghanistan. Those who are calling for the present govt to step down & be replaced by an unelected govt are those who themselves have had either unelected govts (dictatorships) or practice the one-party rule concept (like China). Consequently, such countries will be in a minority if the UN were to take over the responsibility of stabilising Afghanistan—which is the ultimate nightmare scenario for both China & Pakistan. As for key regional players that would play the dominating role in stabilising Afghanistan & reviving its economy, it will be Iran, India & the CARs.

To RAD: It is FAKE NEWS. Instead, do watch this:

Future of Airpower: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVrPSrGXBsQ

To PSS: The reason they were decommissioned was because it had become cost-prohibitive to retain them in service, i.e. no spares support. In that case, how can any other armed forces make use of them?

To DASHU: That’s precisely what gave ther confidence yesterday to IAKN for offering India direct access to central Asia at the inauguration of this seminar:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLU9J9vM2Cs&t=10s

The question then to be asked is, how can Pakistan offer such access when it itself does not have geographical contiguity with the Central Asian Republics? Unless he was referring to the annexed GB that enjoys contiguity with Afghanistan’s Wakhan Corridor. India’s response to this is expected to be wishy-washy, since India’s officialdom too is in a similar state, as revealed through this interview:

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To RAGHU: There are a number of inaccuracies. For starters, MDO does not replace NCO, but MDO makes greater use of NCO through what is now known as UBIQUITOUS COMPUTING. Secondly, the US Indo-Pacific Commander spoke only about China going to war with Taiwan within 6 years, not with India. Thirdly, A2AD is a US-origin warfighting concept. China did not invent it. Fourthly, China has thus far developed only hypersonic glide weapons, not the kind of missiles powered by hypersonic propulsion systems of the type already in the possession of both the US & Japan & which can be launched by MRCAs. Fifthly, China is still decades away from fielding lethal autonomous weapons of the type that can be launched by MRCAs. Even its existing subsonic long-range cruise missiles can’t operate in the terrain-avoidance mode & consequently have to cruise at medium altitudes. Sixthly, even diffused bases are static in nature & hence can be targetted by missile-based fire-assaults. Hence, the US has no intention of creating any kind of diffused bases & is instead focussing more on missile defence systems using directed-energy weapons. Seventhly, the PLA is several decades behind the US & NATO in the arena of intelligentised warfighting, both due to the paucity of skilled human resources & the absence of AI-enabled hardware, especially the 4-nano-metre microchips reqd for such hardware. China’s semiconductor industry has been able to produce only 14-nano-metre microchips, not even the 14-nano-metre chips available five years ago. Lastly, technology will never replace human soldiers in combat, nor would there would be little bloodshed and violence. This was not the case thousands of years ago when the Mahabharata war was fought with ‘Brahmastra’ weapons, nor will it be the case in future. But yes, China certainly will try to avoid bloodshed & violence due to its aversion to accepting casualties (thanks to its one-child policy) & will therefore resort to coercive tactics by weaponising everything at its disposal, like engaging in lopsided bilateral trade activities. Consequently, the prime challenge for the QUAD will be to redraft those WTO regulations & rules that have since 2001 given China a terribly unfair trading advantage. This an only this will reduce China’s existing prowess as an economic powerhouse. And this can be achieved only through the projection of the QUAD’s soft powers, not the already dominating hard power.

IN any case, it is now impossible to make peace with China because China has officially published several papers through its state-owned think-tanks which clearly state that the clash between China & India was inevitable since 1949, & was never a recent phenomenon. Hence, anyone who thinks that one can still make peace with China & remain independent at the same time is only engaging in wishful thinking.

Prasunda,

1) Is there any pressure from the current US administration on GoI to stall long range ballistic missile testing ?

2) If not, is the main roadblock to such testing the wait for the tracking ship, after which we can expect the first MIRVed tests around 2022 (that will be needed if these systems are to be fielded by 2030)

To SATYAKI: No pressure whatsoever. Unless the tracking vessels are available, one cannot begin flight-testing ICBMs or SLBMs carrying MIRVs. It’s that simple.

To CHANAKYA CHATTERJEE: Far more advanced systems have been developed & put to use in India. Here is 1 such example:

Multi Object Tracking Radar (MOTR) is a Rs.240 crore L-Band (1.3 to 1.4 GHz) Active Phased Array Radar realised by Satish Dhawan Space Center (SDSC SHAR) with the main objective of tracking 0.25m2 sized space debris in LEO up to an altitude of 800km. MOTR weighs 35 tonnes, is 12 metres long and 8 metres tall, having a rectangular antenna comprising 4,608 T/R modules. MOTR is located in Sriharikota at 130 44 7.8396 N, 800 11 4.5528 E. It is the first radar system in India realized for tracking space debris. It is commissioned and made operational on March 2015. MOTR had a dedicated space debris tracking campaign on July – August 2016 and tracked 51 different space objects during the campaign. From then MOTR is regularly being used for tracking various space debris.

To CHANAKYA CHATTERJEE: Had already explained in previous threads similar radars like Arudhra, Ashwini & ADTCR in DEFEXPO-2018 & Aero India 2019 threads. MOTR is an L-band LRTR & is not civilian. It is a dual-use system & hence is also on board INS Dhruva.

Prasunda,

Wo'nt it be easier to set up MOTR type radars along the coast (SHAR+1 or 2 other locations) and test long range missiles over lofted trajectories at shorter range over the sea? China seems to test all its BMs (incl. DF-41) inland from Taiyuan to Xinjiang with the tested range no more than 2500 km (even for a 12000 km BM). This would avoid difficulties like stabilizing large radars like the MOTR on a ship.

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To SATYAKI: One must not get confused between mobile LRTRs & static LRTRs for ballistic missile early-warning. Radars like Green Pine & MOTR are used for providing early-warning during wartime, and can also be transported to theatres over land & sea that require coverage, as in the case of flight-tests of ICBMs & SLBMs. They can also be deployed at sea during wartime but for limited periods only. Hence, their employment timeframes are limited. The static LRTRs on the other hand are designed for providing airspace surveillance 24/7 & for 365 days a year. Consequently, the best solution is to procure both types of LRTRs. China has also fired its SLBMs from the Bohai Sea out to Xinjiang.

Prasunda,

In the context of Radars & Akash-NG an article (fan-boy category) claims as follows :
1. The Akash NG is in the same category as the MRSAM/LRSAM built with Israel (Barak-8).
2. Based on the test laich pics, it also claims at same time that it's not Vertically Launched with its set of advantages (lower wt.?!) & disadvantages (more missiles & launchers).
3. What's curious is the claim of AESA Radar/Sensor on the launch vehicle itself ( based on image) Isn't that contradictory in itself. How can this be physically possible even with a dualpulse rocket motor?!

Request you to provide a small write-up on the Akash-NG AGAIN?

Thanks & Regards

Hi Prasun

will L band LRTR like MOTR suffice for india or do we also have to deploy s band LRTR like AN/SPY-7 Long Range Discrimination Radar which US is now deploying to cue missile interceptors or will india have to go the Japanese way and deploy Large X band radars like AN/TPY-2. the 12 high power radars(HPR) that DRDO is developing for IAF is L band or S band? won't it help with detecting and tracking ballistic missiles or will it only be used for long range endo atmospheric surveillance

2. Do you foresee any visit by Indian PM to pak this year

Looking at ur post abt Chinese Airborne ISR assets such as their drones and Large Long Range Aircraft with Ground Mapping Radars and EW/SIGINT Sensors - What was their presence along the LAC - Ladakh to Sikkim & Arunachal - during the standoff period?

How much airborne intelligence gathering were the Chinese doing and what are the consequences for IA and IAF. Does this not give them a significant advantage since they now know the IAF & IA deployment methodology and tactics which they can then anticipate the next time they want to put us under pressure. Since they will always be the 1st mover, this puts us at a disadvantage everytime correct?

To KAUSTAV: The essentials of Akash-NG were explained here:

https://trishul-trident.blogspot.com/2021/01/iaf-specific-akash-ng-e-shorads.html

The Akash-NG being an E-SHORADS cannot be compared to either Barak-8 or Barak-8ER. Instead, it can be compared with the Barak MRAD variant. Vertical-launch saves time for only MR-SAMs & LR-SAMs. For quick-reaction SAMs, it does not confer any specific advantages & hence even NASAMs & Pantsyr do not possess vertical-launch capability. Even Pantsyr contains both the target detection radar & target engagement radar in one single vehicle along with the SAM launchers. The older OSA-AK SHORADS too had a similar configuration.

To HOODS007: The DRDO-developed L-band HPR is meant only for airspace surveillance & detection/tracking of manned & unmanned aerial platforms like MRCAs & UAVs. New-generation HPRs meant for BMD-related early warning can be of the S-band or L-band or UHF-band types, but HPRs conducting both early-warning & target engagement functions require to be of the dual-band type, i.e. S-band & X-band. HPRs meant only for target engagement-cum target illumination for LR-SAMs operate in the X-bandwidth, like the AEGIS Ashore radars in Poland & Romania.

To HARSH: 1) yes, it is a mental block that prevents the Govt of India from taking decisive decisions that will lead to better & efficient governance. 2) No. 3) Not at all. It was the sudden heating up of the Durand Line that forced Pakistan to seek peace with India & that’s why one nowadays does not hear about the Pakistani FC or PA suffering any casualties in Balochistan. This was the data-point that is missing in this news-report:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-03-22/secret-india-pakistan-peace-roadmap-brokered-by-top-uae-royals

KIDDO: I had already outlined it all. The PLAAF’s turbofan-powered HALE-UAVs were active out of Shigatse airport both in 2017 & again this time. The PLAAF & PLAGF thus could benefit from non-stop & persistant ISR, which wasn’t available to the IA & IAF. In addition, many ASSUME that deploying a higher number of LEO overhead recce satellites will give adequate early warning of sudden PLA mobilisations & deployments along the LAC. In reality, it is the turbofan-powered HALE-UAVs equipped with side-looking SAR sensors that provide far more actionable intelligence.

To BHOUTIK: Absolutely. The South Koreans due to political point scoring via nationalistic fervour are giving the impression that their principal enemy is Japan, and not China and North Korea.

To SANJAY: Turkey will go with anybody that opposes the narrative of the Arabs. And that’s because it was the Arabas that had played the principal role in destroying the last Caliphate-cum-Ottoman Empire back in the previous century.

To FINANCEBLOGGER: It was the sudden heating up of the Durand Line that forced Pakistan to seek peace with India & that’s why one nowadays does not hear about the Pakistani FC or PA suffering any casualties in Balochistan. This was the data-point that is missing in this news-report:

The AkashNG being a shorter range SAM ticked all the boxes, including carrying it's radar on it's launch vehicle. Your blogspot article was clear & logical. It's this persistent attempt through such fanboy articles that gave the query where the Akash NG is protrayed as a Desi MRSAM variant when everything about it's launcher vehicle, dimensions, etc. shows it isn't.
Here is the FANBOY article BTW

It's evidently wishful thinking, but why don't they see that the Akash NG plays a more important role. While the MRSAM is also playing its role.

To KAUSTAV: VMT. The SHORADS reqmts of the 3 armed services vary & hence the existence of QR-SAM, SR-SAM & LL-QRM reqmts. Consequently, one size can never fit all--this being the logical conclusion. The principal role of the LR-SAM & MR-SAM is airspace denial, i.e. forcing the enemy's strike package to either abort or climb down to far lower altitudes. Consequently, the prime role of the SHORADS is to destroy the airborne targets & hence it will be the most prolific of all SAM-types, for both shooting down standoff PGMs as well as hostile combat aircraft.

Foundations for last month’s ceasefire along the LoC were laid during a series of one-on-one secret meetings between senior intelligence officers at a London hotel in 2018. The meetings were authorised by Pakistan’s COAS, Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, and India’s National Security Advisor (NSA), Ajit Doval. Involving a polo-playing General from an aristocratic family, and an ethnic Tamil career intelligence officer responsible for espionage operations targetting Pakistan, the talks began months after Prime Minister Imran Khan took office in 2018.The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)-Research & Analysis Wing (R & AW) channel was shut down in 2019 after a terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama brought India and Pakistan to the edge of war. Inside months, however, both countries agreed to revive the secret talks, as leaders in the two capitals explored means to minimise the risk of a full-scale war. Both officers have since retired from service, and have been replaced with new representatives. The revelation of the secret India-Pakistan channel comes amidst reports that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) helped facilitate the dialogue that led up to the ceasefire beginning February 25. “Lots of foreign capitals have encouraged India-Pakistan peace, but the process has been led by the two countries, not external actors.” Gen Bajwa’s October 2018 visit to London, where he met with the United Kingdom’s CDS, Gen Nicholson Carter, and National Security Adviser, Mark Sedwill, appears to have crystallised the idea to reduce the risk that nuclear-armed India and Pakistan might enter a crisis through missteps or miscalculations. The Pakistan Army had been reaching out to the United Kingdom since at least 2017, seeking its support to improve the country’s relationship with the United States and with India. Gen Bajwa argued that peace with India was needed to support his efforts to cut defence spending, and permanently shut down jihadist groups. Late that month, the ISI had reached out to India, saying it had been authorised by the PA’s COAS to seek negotiations. Following this first contact, ISI and R & AW officials met at least three times, discussing concerns over terrorism and risk-reduction measures. Ending firing at LoC—thus re-instituting a ceasefire that was agreed on in 2002 but had slowly unravelled—was among the ideas the General representing ISI pushed for. At the time, the UK was the only western country showing any interest in serious engagement with Pakistan. Gene Bajwa, interestingly, also has personal links to the UK, which is home to his sister-in-law, Asma Bajwa, and brothers Tariq Bajwa and Javaid Bajwa. Few in New Delhi believed the secret channel would make progress, even though it had the direct support of the PA. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made considerable efforts to push forward the peace process, even making a surprise visit to Lahore in December 2015 to attend the wedding of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s granddaughter. The effort had, however, imploded in the face of resistance from the PA. Early in 2016, after terrorists targeted the IAF air base in Pathankot, Prime Minister Sharif proved unable to deliver on promises to act against its perpetrators, the Jaish-e-Muhammad. Later that year, India reacted to another terrorist attack, this time in Uri, by hitting back across LoC. Late in 2017, Pakistan’s National Security Advisor, Ret’d Lt Gen Nasser Khan Janjua, secretly met with Doval in Bangkok, hoping to avert a further deterioration in the relationship. The last-ditch effort failed.

Cont'd Below...

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

Following the February 2019 terrorist bombing in Pulwama—which led to IAF air-strikes against a JeM seminary in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Balakot, and retaliatory bombing across LoC by Pakistan—the London dialogue came to an end. There just didn’t seem any point in continuing the negotiations. The PA, though, soon moved to try to re-open the door. Late in the summer, it shared warnings on terrorist attacks through the CIA, and acted against the leadership of several jihadist groups. Alarmed by the risk of war, moreover, several countries with good relationships with India began nudging New Delhi towards talks. Last year, the UAE’s ambassador to New Delhi said that while the Emirate did not seek to mediate between India and Pakistan, it had offered “words of wisdom” on the need for peaceful relations. Gen Bajwa used another visit to London in June 2019 to ask interlocutors in the UK to persuade New Delhi to re-open the secret channel. Even though politicians in Pakistan unleashed a barrage of hostile polemic against India following the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019, jihadist groups across the LoC were continued to be muzzled, and violence remained in decline. This alone gave enough reason to re-open the secret dialogue. Even though the scepticism remained, it was also clear there was nothing much to be lost. Islamabad’s decision to demonstrate military restraint during the recent crisis along the LoC with China was a decisive factor in pushing India towards agreeing towards a ceasefire. The fact that there was no hostile troop movement by the PA deepened confidence in Gen Bajwa’s message. R & AW-ISI secret channels, interestingly, played a key role in bringing about the original ceasefire along LoC in 2003. In the wake of the 2002 India-Pakistan near-war, then R & AW Secretary C D Sahai, and his ISI counterpart, Lt Gen Ehsan-ul-Haq, met regularly to stitch up a ceasefire on LoC. Sahai is reputed to have also passed on intelligence, gathered by Indian communications intelligence, of a plot to assassinate Gen Musharraf by a faction of the JeM—a warning the ISI ignored, to its cost. Earlier Prime Ministers also relied on R & AW to conduct secret diplomacy on their behalf. In 1987, for example, then R & AW Secretary A N Verma and ISI-DG Lt Gen Hamid Gul met to discuss Khalistan terror, in talks brokered by Jordan. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Gen Musharraf also operated a secret channel, using diplomats Satinder Lambah and Tariq Aziz, to craft an arrangement that would institutionalise the LoC as a border, but make it irrelevant, like the one that divides the two sides of Ireland. The eventual outcome of the negotiations R & AW has conducted are far from clear and there’s still a pretty wide gulf between what New Delhi is willing to do on Kashmir and what Islamabad would be willing to live with. The next steps might be a normalisation in the diplomatic relationship, and perhaps some sporting events. There’s no desire in either capital, though, to rush things.

Can Moscow change things in Afghanistan where the west failed(though its their own screwups for which the afghans & other regional countries have paid thru their nose)
4- What is bajwa asking GB ? Paki greed & lust for power are never satiated. if we concede on it .. it will only embolden them .. wait for 10 od yrs completely control & then open the terror tap again....

To RAD: Semiconductor foundries flourish only in those regions/countries where a complete industrial eco-system prevails, i.e. not just the foundries producing wafer-chips, but also the subsequent micro-processors, cellphones, I-Pads, Tablets, industrial robotics, etc etc. Unless all these can be located in a cluster, no semiconductor foundry will be able to flourish. As for how Taiwan achieved such a feat, these will explain it all:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fVrWDdll0g

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hb1WDxSoSec&t=13s

Taiwan’s foundries are producing 4-nanometre microchips, while China’s foundries can at best produce only the much older 14-nanometre chips. In fact, chip-manufacturing is advancing from one generation to another every 5 years. On the other hand, when it comes to industrial robotics reqd for testing cellphones, for instance, only 1 OEM worldwide leads the pack, that is the US-based T-Mobile, as explained here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mv69ZxKOFSw

If the MICA-NG has already been ordered, then it must have already received its airworthiness certification, which comes only after all flight-tests have been concluded. No product in the world of any type gets ordered with receiving certification, not even a toothbrush or nail-cutter.

To DASHU & JUST_CURIOUS: The principal question is: Is India serious about getting back PoK inclusive of GB? India’s confused intelligentsia, exemplified by the likes of Prof Amitabh Mattoo, firmly believe that harbouring any hopes getting back what is legally India’s is a no-brainer, as shown here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QVsYgAWF10&t=142s

Then there are those who are trying very hard to bring the historical factoids to light to prevent such a mishap from happening:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3Q7GfAwam8&t=509s

And finally there are those who are trying hard to explain Pakistan’s tactical shenanigans, like the former Pak HC to India:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNlcpIyK5jY&t=82s

Bottomline: no one from India’s officialdom has questioned Pakistan’s offer of offering India direct land access to the Central Asian Republics, when a mere glance at the World Atlas will indicate to anyone that such an access can only be provided by Pakistan through the Wakhan Corridor, and that too when Pakistan retains sovereignty over the contiguous GB area. So, when Pakistan makes an offer for trade access to the CARs for India & it remains unquestioned or uncontested by India’s MEA, this only means that such access will have to be provided via GB, i.e. India will have to accept Pakistan usurping PoK for good. This is what sound common-sense leads us to infer & it ain't rocket science.

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To KIDDO: The LRASM has been offered only for the IN’s P-8Is. It is an air-to-surface PGM & hence cannot be ship-launched.

To PRAKSH: Bringing NATO into the Indo-Pacific will be un-workable & even countries like France will oppose it. However, a NATO-like regional security architecture can be drawn up by the four QUAD member-states.

To SATYA: 1) Project 18 exists, but only at the conceptual stage & hence no displacement figures have been arrived as yet. 2) Both Project 75A & Project 76 involve AIP-powered SSKs as of now. Work on SSN designing has already begun because it will be a risk-free iteration of the IN’s S-2/Arihant SSGN design. No other design of any new-type of SSN can even be considered due to the prohibitive costs & extended timelines reqd for such an effort, as I have repeatedly explained before. 3) That is the Barak-8ER LR-SAM for the IAF.

To JUST_CURIOUS: If the BrahMos-NG will be lighter than the BrahMos-A that the Su-30MKI can already carry, then there’s no room for any objection by the IAF for BrahMos-NG. The diameter of BrahMos-NG also conforms to the 533mm diameter of torpedo launch-tubes, i.e. it will also be capable of being launched from submarines.

u once said to me that i still think IAF should buy Mirage 2000, i say yes the 67 from UAE & reason are as follows:

1. UAE wants to sell the Mirages had tried to sell them to Iraq but France/Dassault put spanner,
2. these 67 jets are already upgraded Mirage 2000-5 mk2 standard that's some as IAF Mirage 2000 UPG
3.UAE Mirage have been sparingly used especially the 2nd BATCH (bought in 2003 n 2nd lasdt t production line) meaning even after 15 yr service they have lot of life still left in them
4. as CAATSA looms IAF getting hands on additional Su30mki to take the no. to 350 looks rather impossible.
5. for 1 Rafale 3 Miorage 2000 can be bought
6. before CAATSA kickss in IAF have chance to buy only the 13 Mig 29 from the 34 unused
7. all Mig 21 set to to retire starting next 2022 & totally by 024 with only 80 Jaguars to to be reengined

the shortfall in IAF squadron is a massive hole that cant be plugged by buying expensive new Rafales max another 36 will be bought

2) Can Chinese attack Siliguri Corridor through Eastern Nepal or Western Bhutan?

3) What if China puts pressure on Myanmar to halt the KMMTTP during a crisis?

4)Why can't we use Bangladeshi airspace and land routes to reach North East instead of this via Sea route?

5)Can China easily guide groups like KIA ,AA etc to harass our supply lines through the KMMTTP?

6)Can we also use KMMTTP to supply our military also or only Commercial or Civilian Cargo?

To RAGHU: The IN has experience of only operating & maintaining the Project 971 SSGN INS Chakra. The design data of this SSGN was neither offered by Russia nor was it asked by India. And since an existing SSGN design like that of the S-2/Arihant can easily be modified into an SSN design, the re-design & re-engineering effort will be risk-free. In addition, due to this all the existing Indian industrial vendors that have already been certified by the Russian OEMs as qualified equipment suppliers will find it easier & cheaper to supply the reqd hardware to the Vizag-based SBC for final-assembly. Were new brand-new SSN design were to be chosen from another foreign SSN designer/developer, then it would have involved a 15-year delay in the SSN procurement effort, since all the selected Indian industrial vendors would have been reqd to get re-certified yet again by a totally group of foreign OEMs, i.e. a very costly & time-consuming re-inventing of the wheel.

To JOYDEEP GHOSH: LoLz! If you keep on insisting that 2+2 equals either 3 or 5, then there’s nothing I can do to make you read the writing on the wall. Hence, this is the last time I will repeat the explanations: 1, 2 & 3: The Mirage-2000UPGs have a totally IAF-specific mission avionics package that includes several core avionics LRUs like the mission computer that are totally different from those of the UAEAF’s Mirage-2000s. Even the weapon systems specified & integrated are totally different. The similarity therefore exists only in terms of external looks & powerplant. Furthermore, if what you insist to suggest were to be a possibility, then France would never have proposed back in 2007 that the IAF get rid of all its existing Mirage-2000s in favour of 40 Rafales. I had already devoted a thread to this a couple of years ago. 4 & 6) You need to find out why is the US talking about CAATSA only in relation to the S-400 LR-SAM propcurement & is not raising the CAATSA issue regarding other Indian military hardware procurements from Russia, such as additional MiG-29UPGs & Su-30MKIs & the 4 additional Project 1135.6 FFGs. 5) One Rafale can carry 9 tonnes of armaments, versus only 4 tonnes by a Mirage-2000. 7) The shortfall within the IAF is not of MRCAs capable of providing air-defence, but of all-weather deep-penetration strike platforms equipped with new-generation mission avionics, i.e. more Rafales are reqd to convince the enemy about the IAF’s punitive deterrence capability & capacity.

To SANJAY: LoLz! No need toget worried by all such stuff. Instead, look beyond the horizon & ask yourself why all this sudden publicity being given to the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project? Why were groups of ‘desi patrakaars’ airlifted to the India-Myanmar border in Mizoram & told to generate ground-reports emphasising the importance of this project while raising the China bogey in their reportage? Why was the security angle played-up & extra focus was laid on the Assam Rifles? The answer: The Govt of India has taken the decision to forcibly deport back to Myanmar all those Myanmarese citizens who had fled to Mizoram & had sought sanctuary:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rnTaSy9ENg

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0p6MLEs1nc

But to initiate the deportations against an expected domestic & perhaps a global backlash, the Govt of India wanted to give credible justifications to defend its decision. Hence, the deluge of reporting by the ‘desi patrakaars’ who were ‘instructed’ by the relevant quarters of the GoI to give their narratives a swing, i.e. such harsh steps are necessary for upholding India’s national security interests. Here are more examples of such reporting by several other TV channels over the past 3 days:

Hope this puts to rest the speculation by fanboys even though no agency had claimed anything such as the Akash Mk2/NG having ranges different from this as it would defeat the purpose of high mobility and E-SHORADS air defence against low flying strike aircraft/drones/CMs etc.

Sir, very interesting observation by you on illegal aliens from Myanmar. I think this is often overlooked by the media and masses. But how does GOI intends to deport them that too forcibly? Will it alsi include thousands who have illegally entered India from Myanmar? They share ethnic and religious bond with tribals, especially Mizos who are quite radical. This illegal immigration from Myanmar has also resulted in increase of Christians in NE states, especially Arunachal. Hope GOI has a plan to deport them. The Modi govt is yet to deport the lakhs of Rohingyas who have already spread across the country from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu.

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To SANJAY: Sound common-sense dictates that IF India wants transit-rights for transporting military hardware or personnel to the northeast, then it is only Bangladesh that can provide such rights, and not Myanmar since Yangon/Maypidaw will be vulnerable to its northern & northeastern borders being overrun by China in retaliation. Consequently, the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transport Transit Corridor is meant for use only for simplifying transportation logistics DURING PEACETIME ONLY. Nor is China vulnerable in any manner along the Chicken’s Neck area in Siliguri because the PLA will have to traverse more than 90km along the narrow Chumbi Valley if it wants to attack either Bhutan or India & India in that area dominates the entire stretch of the Valley on both sides—from Sikkim & Bhutan. Instead, the following are the realities:

Myth 1: Sino-Indian border is largely settled with just a few recorded and identified flashpoints. The harsh reality is that the PLA activates different areas, in keeping with their grand design, often as diversionary tactics. In this case, Naku La was a distraction for Galwan. We draw comfort from nuancing incursions as transgressions, but the unmistakable bottom line is — nothing is settled, till it is delimited, delineated and demarcated on the ground. We have to be prepared for the long haul with more surprises, as China is in no hurry to resolve issues.

Myth 2: Stand-offs are due to overreaction by local commanders. This is another false notion, a convenient excuse to pass the buck. Most stand-offs are recorded by PLA patrols with considerable play acting, giving an impression, that they are vectored by higher HQs. It will be prudent to surmise that the Chinese are masters in centrally planned but locally orchestrated events. In any case, Chinese Western Command controls the entire Tibet border against four different commands of India, micro-managed by the Army HQ, adding to confusion. Indian patrols have displayed remarkable restraint and maturity in face-offs. It throws up a disturbing possibility that ‘strategic guidance’ (agreed to at the summit level) is being flouted by the PLA, with tacit blessings.

Myth 3: The Chinese are superior to us. This myth needs to be junked. Objective comparison proves that our troops are more than a match for their counter parts. The 1962 syndrome was discarded in a resolute stand-off at Nathu La and Cho La, in 1967. Unfortunately, we have downplayed, this heroic action, as skirmish to avoid embarrassing the PLA. In fact, most Chinese troops are conscript variety with questionable domain competence. In Somdrong Chu and other stand-offs over the years, as also UN operations, Chinese vulnerability has been exposed, repeatedly.

Myth 4: Chinese technological asymmetry will cripple adversaries even before the battle is joined. The much hyped technology is yet to be operationalised and is severely degraded by high altitude and weather. On balance, it is part of psychological warfare and can’t be taken as game changer.

Cont'd below...

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

Myth 5: By and large, peace prevails as no bullet has been fired since 1967. This needs to be moderated with realisation that China is already waging unrestricted warfare. There is considerable evidence of Chinese engineered cyber disruption in our power grid. Pare-chu floods causing severe damage to power plants astride Sutlej and the more recent devastating deluge in Assam, coupled with denial of hydrological data are gross misuse of upper riparian leverages. Even in the current stand-off, water flow has been blocked in Galwan river. Pacifism is rooted in Deng’s maxim of economic consolidation, preceding precipitate military action, which has been discarded by Xi’s aggressively rising China.

Myth 6: In all situations, China will act responsibly, in accordance with stature. Will any responsible power misuse the pandemic for power play? Conventional wisdom, propagated by experts, is that Pakistan will invariably exploit Sino-Indian hostilities and intervene. China, showing maturity as a global power, will desist from exploiting Indo-Pak hostilities. Chinese reticence in 1971 and Kargil are cited as examples. However, the degree of collusive linkages have strengthened manifold with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Myth 7: China will show reciprocity and respect our sensitivities. Not quite, because 17 Corps, which was initially designated as Mountain Strike Corps and later played down with the dropping of ‘strike’ and curtailing of budgetary allocation, has not resulted in any reduction in Chinese intransigence. The coping strategy in dealing with China has to factor in existing asymmetry and should be confined within the bounds of realism. We have viable options, though limited, yet we must signal resolve. It may take considerable time, like Doklam, but our sensitivities in terms of security to the new Darbuk-DBO road and unfettered patrolling up to our claim lines, including Pangong Tso area should be ensured. In this age of 5G, nail-studded clubs, stoning and wrestling bouts on the LAC need to be eliminated. While diplomats and commanders are resolving the situation, the electronic media should enable an honourable resolution by avoiding rabble-rousing debates. Remaining focused on time-bound infrastructure development, it will be pragmatic to reduce hype attached to construction and inauguration of infrastructure in sensitive areas. Concurrent requirement is to fast-track China-centric, joint theatre commands. The Mountain Corps needs to be customised as an agile force and most importantly funded to generate multiple quid pro quo options. To deter the Dragon, we must discard myths, accept new realities and reduce asymmetries.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXD0tZC1ua0&t=23s

The number of Rohingyas in India is not into lakhs, but at most 50,000. Myanmar will never accept them back & hence the only option left is to send them to Bangladesh’s Bhashan Char Island in the Bay of Bengal. The India-Myanmar IB is heavily patrolled by both India & Myanmar & consequently one will not see a deluge of Myanmarese Kachins crossing over to the northeastern states. And once the Kaladan land transportation route has been completed, Myanmar for sure will fence up that entire area, rest assured.

But beyond all that, these are the mosy worrying:

To ASD & AMIT BISWAS: In a nutshell, the book details the 3 rounds of courtroom proceedings & their conclusions, which remain unavailable to most of us due to the usage of Italian language. To summarise them, what has emerged from them are the following:

1) Back in 2009 the EU Parliament was highly concerned about the rising oligarchy-driven corruption within Italy (which used to cause annual revenues worth 60 billion Euros for Italy) & had therefore forced Italy to usher in a non-partisan technocrat government led by PM Mario Monti, who in turn decided to clean up all the oligarchies then residing within giant Italian industrial conglomerates, including Finmeccanica. This in turn led to boardroom battles between the old guard & new guard within these conglomerates. Orsi as the new Chairman of Finmeccanica was then targetted by his erstwhile bosses & it all started with a waste management contract for an Italian city that Finmeccanikca had been awarded 4 years earlier that was scandalous & due to which orsi had sacked 27 employees & Directors of Finmeccanica. The old guard in retaliation then hatched a plot to assassinate Orsi’s character by attacking his most successful marketing effort, i.e. alleging corruption within the IAF’s AW-101 contract.

2) Selectively, starting from late 2012, the old guard began supplying THE INDIAN EXPRESS with circumstantial evidences (like Haschke’s handwritten jottings) to raise a stink within India. The ‘desi patrakaars’ took the bait & started publishing such documents without ascertaining their credibility.

3) By 2018, after all the courtroom battles had been concluded, all 3 court verdicts had stated that only circumstantial evidence had been presented by Italian State prosecutors & no money-trail could be forensically traced & hence no corruption or wrongdoing was traceable. 3) All 3 verdicts had given this conclusion on the basis of 2 forensic audits of the financial records of both Finmeccanica & its UK-based subsidiary AgustaWestland PLC that were conducted by independent auditors like PriceWaterhouse Coopers.

Cont'd below...

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

4) India is now caught in a bind because all her agencies have no clinching proof of any corruption & this will eventually go against India during the arbitration proceedings. Christian Michel continues his incarceration since late 2018 & to date no additional chargesheets against him have been filed due to unavailability of any evidence against him.

5) Heroes have been villianised in India, i.e. it was Christian Michel’s father Wolfgang Max Richard Michel, alias Wally Michel, who enjoyed excellent relations with successive Govts of India & had: A) arranged for the first-ever crude oil deal between India & the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the Janata Party rule in the late 1970s under which Saudi Arabia agreed to give 30,000 barrels of crude oil free on a daily basis for 5 years. B) He had successfully penetrated the Khalistan movement in the UK & had forewarned India about the assassination of Mrs. Indira Gandhi just a week before the assassination. He subsequently submitted himself for questioning by Indian investigative authorities in Delhi & the latter was all praises for Wally Michel’s professional cooperation. C) Back in the mid-1970s when South Africa was on the verge of losing the war inside Angola against UNITA, India was highly concerned about the well-being of the South African Indians as they would, like in Idi Amin’s Uganda, would be the target of racial attacks by the ANC (since both the South African Indians & Zulus were supporters of the Apartheid-era govt, since they were never discriminated against). Consequently, India & the UK cooperated in exporting the IA’s decommissioned Chieftain MBTs to South Africa via Wally Michel’s good offices on a war-footing. This would NOT have become headline news back then had the desperate South Africans not used these Chieftains against UNITA with their IA markings still on them!

It was Christian Michel who, despite the then-prevailing US sanctions against India, successfully arranged the ToT between AgustaWestland PLC & HAL for setting up a gearbox/transmission overhaul facility in Bengaluru for servicing the IN’s Sea King Mk.42B & Mk.42C helicopters. Had Michel’s proposal for AW-101’s direct industrial offsets been agreed too, then HAL’s HATSOF facility would have been made responsible for owning & maintaining the AW-101 full-flight & tactical training simulator on the IAF’s behalf. Instead, the old guard of Finmeccanica had through Haschke sabotaged this & had instead gone for a dubious MRO-related software development package by an unknown Chandigarh-based business entity whose parent company was based in Tunisia.

Later on, I will scan & upload some of the pages from the book to explain in greater detail what all had transpired & how the ruling Indian elites were made to look like DONKEYS RULING A NATION OF IDIOTS!!!

Regards your rants (yes I did call them rants) with a few links ... Dude do you realise that this is the first 2nd term govt with no big scam against it, like Bofors or coal or 2g or what not.

I live in mumbai and have seen the pace of work under fadnavis and after him, there's no comparision.

Also bhai, u seem decided in ur head, sort the truth out there. Voter's aren't listening to you and pls don't give a few stray examples to deny it.

This Joydeep Ghosh fella is needlessly abusive most of the times. Was mildly surprising to see him only pompously dismiss Chanakya Chatterjee instead of breaking into his usual foul mouthed fits. Given, the unmistakable Hindutva surge on the back of the subalterns in Bangal, irrespective of who wins Bengal, to salvage Bengali Hindus and hurl the state towards industralization, Bhadroloks like Joydeep Ghosh have their knickers all tied up in a serious case of PMS. Only a dash of Gau Mutra could resolve him. Will his snark allow him though?

To PRAKSH, CHANAKYA CHATTERJEE & BHOUTIK: Outrageous as they may seem, the observations of Jin Canrong are in reality those of the Communist Party of China (CPC) & all that he has been doing is bringing them out in the public domain & thus he doesn’t deserve to be vilified. In fact, such CPC decisions taken back in 2009 were responsible for the then POTUS Barrack Obama to adopt the ‘Pivot to the East’ strategy that was to make India the springboard for such a strategy & that was when Obama had told Dr. MMS that it was the US intention to transform India into a ‘great power’.

To JOYDEEP GHOSH: I can understand your frustration, but in the end we ourselves are all to blame for this state of affairs, since our successive ‘netas’ have not descended from either the Heavens or from another world. They have all & will continue to emerge from within our midst. But here’s something to cheer you up:

Iranian Mirage F-1s at Chabahar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4ZysjumZmA

Vietnam’s PAVN Air Force: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0UBP8D1iF0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--vS-81idX4

Vietnam PAVN Navy’s Bastion-P Supersonic Coastal defence System:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwPXKtVX1Ac

To AMIT MUKHERJEE: Neither tejas Mk.1 nor Tejas Mk.1A will have internally-mounted MAWS sensors. Instead, work is on to develop a pylon-based attachments containing MAWS sensors. The bulbous attachments atop the tail-section are the Dhruti RWR sensors.

To ASHISH GAUTAM: I can only offer my prayers for your speedy & eventual recovery without any further complications. The SSN design will be a variant of the S-2/Arihant SSGN design (as I have been stating since late 2013), but minus the VLS cells. Everything else will remain the same. No one in the world uses breeder reactors for marine propulsion since it will not be a compact solution when compared to the mature PWR designs. Even within the DAE folks are having a very tough time with the experimental PFBR at Kalpakkam & hence it has not yet been operationalized despite work on it having begun in the mid-1980s.

To GANESH: Yes, that's correct. Here is the Pakistani view/interpretation:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=897LOeKz6sE&t=3s

To SUJOY MAJUMDAR: 1) The Apartheid practice had morphed by the 1970s & both the Indian & Zulu communities were not discriminated against. Instead, Pretoria's prime targets at that time were the ANC, UNITA & SWAPO. 2) Chittagong & Noakhali have traditionally been areas characterised by hostilities against non-Muslim communities.

Dear Prasun,

As usual thank you very much. I joked with you and yet you came with many eye popping facts. Is the PM and other biggies aware of these facts about the favour shown by Mitchell's father? Why are they blind towards these facts? Is dirty politics is the only way ahead for india aka the great democracy?

Really feeling disgusting!!!!

BTW how will Modi government deal with the AW101 case in the absence of any substantial evidence? What will be the face saving steps???? Any idea?

Prasun,

1--If you could share your views on HOA summit in Dushanbe? Will India gain anything out of it?
2--You had mentioned sometime ago that there are some elements in taliban who do not toe paki line blindly .. but it seems they are either silenced or are too small to make any difference .. what next for afghanistan..
3--never understood what is so great about pakistan's "strategic location" shit. Our trade & connections to central asia is anyways very very ltd given that they are pretty much nobodies in the economic hierrachy & given the complicated societies of Afghans , iranians central asians & pretty much the whole of middle including turks, i do see any long term economic gains to be had by having transit route through pakistan-which they keep touting about .. add the ever hanging issue of west vs russia-china tussle over who controls these nutcases or the who becomes the caliph of the muslim world tussle .. its will always be volatile.. either facing trade restrictions or worse jihadi takeovers . the energy gyaan is also a bit far fetched given that the world is moving towards greener energy..why even bother to entertain pakis?
4-- regarding MAWS danish co Terma's pylons with MAWS should fit the bill for MK1A? How difficult is it to have indigenous ones could also be designed & manufactured to suit specific needs..

Since the super Sukhoi is stuck primarily for the aesa radar being ready in Russia, since the al41 engine is mature is the following possible

Since Israeli avionics have already been used in mki why can't we get ELTA to make a su30 nose cone sized enlarged 2052 and get on with the super Sukhoi upgrade immediately

Nearly 300 super sukhois with 2052 and al41 engines with super cruise makes iaf very strong till MWF and amca come in

@Chanakya Chatterjee

i too dont take you seriously but since you did personal I too wish to give back in same coin, bcoz you my friend are nothing but a bootlicker andhbhakt WhatsApp university graduate who most certainly would have celebrated this mornings int. rate harakiri when the govt tried to cook a snook and pulled a April Fools prank on we middle class but when it realized the kick in pusht it steeped back

1. i agree overcautious AK Anthony did delay def. projects when they weren't needed but if you talk about scams well a name 'Sudhir Chaudhary' a London based arms dealer and a major BJP donor as per reports is enough, prasun da may brief u abt him if you ask

2. f you talk abt more scams well the destruction of Aarey colony forest, PMC Bank, DHFL, Nirav Modi are all under fadnavis (don't fret niorav wont be coming to India ever bcoz if he does the diamond trader brothers from M State will stop funding bjp/rss forever)

3. anything that benefits only a particular section is a scam, so is Bullet train bcoz it is not meant to help anyone but diamond/oil/textile traders of Surat, baroda, jamnagar let alone the destruction of mangroves along coast

4. the biggest scam ever isn't 2G or foogi but Demonitization, how just figure out the density of seats and no. of flights taking off from India for tax havens worldwide in the weeks before Demonitization and compare it with the same period in previous yrs, you will know the scale of scam

5. another snam is GSPC scam when modi said 'Gujarat mein gharon mein nal see paani nahi tail nikalega' what happened to the claim of biggest oil discovery and the subsequent money raised for it

6. No country worth its salt will appoint someone as NSA who's family lives abroad except India where Dovals entire family is NRI, what a joke isn't it, its a different matter that his Vivekanand Foundation was the MAIN financer of Anna Hazare agitation, that poor chap fell to his trap and ever since he has tried to assert himself he has been muzzled into silence

I can go on endlessly but these are enough to list out some scams there are more that @prasun da may enlighten you abt during BJP rule.

don't insult urself y trying to justify urself

1) Recently the army ordered m4 vehicles from Kalyani worth ~178cr. In this amount, approx, how many vehicles would have been ordered ?

2) Also, according to the article - https://www.dailypioneer.com/2021/trending-news/govt-approves-purchase-of-arjun-tanks--arms-worth-rs-13-700-cr.html - the DAC has approved 820 armoured vehicles. What kind of vehicles could these be ? BMP-2, KESTREL, M4, or some mine protected vehicle ?

3) Do you have any estimate of the total no. of Mine protected vehicles in service with the IA ?

Thank you

To ASD: LoLz! Then the following thread will disgust you even further! Of course the truth is known to everybody, even about Bofors. After all, the then management of Bofors had back in 1989 had met the then Indian PM V P Singh & had shared all the data & yet all successive Indian PMs since then have not revealed in Parliament what exactly had been disclosed by the Bofors management back in 1989. Why? The only plausible answer is: NATIONAL SECURITY. What this means is that yes, there were commissions paid; yes the custodians of such commissions were the UK-based Hinduja Brothers & Ottavio Quattrochi; but what was the money meant for? Where was it spend & for what? Had it been spent as political funding inside India, then such data would have been harvested to the brim by any Indian PM, starting with V P Singh. Instead, no Indian PM in-the-know has ever disclosed anything. Why? The only & obvious answer is that such funds were parked abroad in those days for financing the covert ‘black’ operations of India’s covert agencies who were then involved in combatting the Khalistan-inspired/Pakistan-sponsored insurgencies within Indian Punjab and J & K.

To JUST_CURIOUS: 1) Of course, India will gain in terms of expanding & increasing its trading businesses with the Central Asian Republics & Afghanistan through Chabahar FTIZ. 2) Not quite, because they are now all part of a coalition of the present-day govt headed by President Ashraf Ghani. 3) The ‘strategic location’ is all about Pakistan providing its land-routes to the landlocked Central Asian Republics & Afghanistan to NATO forces or UN forces. But if there is rapproachment between the US & Iran, then Chabahar will assume far greater importance & criticality. 4) Kindly proceed to the Aero India 2017 & DEFEXPO-2018 threads where the DARE-designed pylon attachments for MAWS sensors are shown in slides.

To CHANAKYA CHATTERJEE: The following thread clearly explains why only a Russia-developed AESA-MMR will be compatible with the Su-30MKI’s digital databuses.

To BHOUTIK: China was greatly alarmed by the combined buildup of the IA & IAF last year inside J & K & Ladakh UTs. After all, the PLAGF did not deploy along the LAC for fighting, but merely for an attempted coercion aimed at keeping India busy along the LAC. Maybe (LoLz, I’m speculating here) Pakistan took my suggestion seriously last year when I had suggested that the IA could possibly attempt a shallow offensive across the LoC to go as far north as Oltingthang (18km to the north of Kargil)!

PLAGF Tactical UAS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vljN51lB64w

PLAGF Flamethrower: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-hCT6oWYfw

To JOYDEEP GHOSH: What’s wrong if the NSA’s family-members are NRIs? Aren’t they still Indian citizens? And like I dais before, none of us are ‘holier than thou’ & hence we must never expect expect anyone to be ‘holier than thou’, be that a common citizen or a ‘neta’. Hence, just chill out & don’t unnecessarily raise your BP-levels.

To ROHIT GILL: The ‘Tatmadaw’ strongly suspected that the NLD-led govt would enact far-reaching reforms that would result in the various ethnic groups being given regional autonomy, thereby diluting the powers of the tatmadaw within the Parliament.

To MANISH 2: 1) 200 as of now. The vehicles’ hull & chassis would be supplied by the South African OEM, while Kalyani will undertake final-assembly from semi-knocked-down kits. Similarly, the 1,300 LSVs from Mahindra Defence will have armour-plating supplied by Israel’s Plasan-Sasa. Even the J & K Police’s Rakshak 4 x 4s have such armour-plating, as revealed here:

https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/other-states/in-kashmir-rakshaks-are-a-cops-best-friend/article27266488.ece

2) OFB-built MPVs. More than 400 such MPVs were previously delivered.
