hi prasun
i guess that launch should have experienced 100G!!!

it seems we have ordered additional missiles ie the aa-11 and aa-12 are we getting the latest version or the old versions.??

how do you rate the article by sameer joshi on his take and detailed analysis of the air to air encounter?
?

RE : Phenomenal acceleration of Russia's latest BMD interceptor missile

Holy cow !!!

1) Whats the designation of this interceptor missile & is it a new design ?
2) Looking at the size of it and the launcher carrying vehicle, this not a mobile unit but
more of static land based type.
3) Any chance of India going for it along with the S400 in future.
4) Whats the speed and interception range of this BMD missile.

Hi Prasun,

Many commentators have written a lot about India China relationship and how China has taken over South Asia Indiaa how it is better to agree to BRI, etc., Because China is going to press on its agenda in South Asia no matter what.

They basically conclude that time is not with India and we should compromise especially given the fact that Modi botched up the economy in modi1.0 govt.

Your thoughts.

To RAD: Check out the last comment in the previous thread on AAM orders. Meanwhile, this is what needs tgo be installed on those An-32Bs that are flying over mountainous terrain under zero-visibility conditions:

https://elbitsystems.com/media/Cearvision_EVSAward_2016.pdf

The EVS will do away with the need for procuring C-295s as replacements for the An-32B, as is being advocated by certain ‘desi patrakaars’ here:

https://theprint.in/defence/iaf-plans-to-stop-flying-an-32-over-mountains-and-seas-after-arunachal-crash/250321/

To SK: It is the PRS-1M missile, which is a part of the A-135 short-range BMD system. The missile is an upgrade of the older T-6 interceptor—with a detachable rocket-steered warhead. Mopre details here:

To VENKY: In another 6 years. Until then, the 3M22 Zircon/BrahMos-2 will have to be relied upon.

1. to me HSTDV is utter waste of tax payer money when brahmos 2/zircon is readily available

2. the news of defects on INS Khanderi, are they true?

3. figured out from where IAF cn its 8 Mig 29s to complete its 6 squadrons these are 69 IAF (CURRENT)+ 34 (RUSSIA) + 15 RMAF (recently sent to premature retirement& stored as active reserve) + 8 Bangladesh AF (AFAIK BAF is breaking its head on how to maintain the 8 jets)=total 126 (full 6 squadrons)

4. heard Russia may give the 45 Mig 29s grabbed from ukraine in crimea to Iran, how true is that?

5. why Iran attack the oil tankers knowing that it will harm iran, thats a stupid act

To VENKY: And before you can ask, here's the data on BrahMos-2:

The 3M22 Zircon/BrahMos-2 is a hypersonic missile able to accelerate to about Mach 9. It has a range of more than 1,000km and is able to destroy both sea-going and land targets. Zircon is primarily intended to arm seagoing platforms. It can also be launched from a coastal location to hit a warship 500km off the coastline in less than five minutes. It is being developed by the Scientific Production Organization for Machinery-building, or NPO Mash. The body length is estimated at 10 to 11 metres (e32-36 feet), warhead weight at 300 to 400kg (660-880 pounds), and peak altitude along the trajectory at 30 to 40km (100,000-130,000 feet). The baseline naval version has a two- or even three-stage configuration with acceleration at launch and climb achieved through solid-fuel boosters. An air-breathing scramjet takes over in cruise and terminal stages of flight. Reportedly, the first firing trials took place in March 2016, followed by a launch from a naval platform 11 months later, in which development prototypes accelerated to Mach 8. Key technologies for the new missile have been tested on a number of experimental vehicles from TsIAM, (Central Institute of Aviation Motors named after Baranov), and TsAGI (Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Zhukovsky). Zircon’s development benefited from earlier testing of the MKB Raduga’s GELA Hypersonic Experimental Flight Vehicle. Demonstrated at the MAKS 1995 expo, this 15-tonne winged missile reached between Mach 4 and Mach 5. While the Zircon was first displayed at the MAKS 2009 expo, the BrahMos-2 was first shown at the Aero India 2013 expo.

Thanks for answering my question in the other thread.

Slightly unclear on two things:

1) Is a pylon mounted MAWS being actively pursued for IAF fighters?

2) Are the new batch of AAMs on order from Russia and are in fact the RVV-MD and RVV-SD?

Thanks for any clarity.

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To JOYDEEP GHOSH: You should have consulted a few other links for determining the exact number of MiG-29s of Ukraine that fell into Russian hands, such as these:

https://theaviationist.com/2014/08/04/mig-29-flight-status/

https://112.international/russia/mig-29-fighters-left-by-ukraine-in-crimea-completely-obsolete-russian-mp-39520.html

To BHOUTIK: Simply because the HSTDV is in the DISTANT/NOT VISIBLE horizon whereas the BrahMos-2 is on the VISIBLE hotizon.

To RAD & BHOUTIK: How can a longer-range R-37M LRAAM be more advantageous? Instread, it will require a longer period of illumination by the launch aircraft’s MMR, which will give enough time for the launch aircraft to either activate its self-protection EW suite or to take evasive measures. The R-77 has a top speed of more than Mach 4.5 & the Meteor almost Mach 5. So if they have to travel to the edge opf their range envelopes, they will do it in a shorter timeframe, especially against inbound hostile airborne combat aircraft. Hencfe, the essence for BVRAAMs today is higher speeds (through ramjet propulsion) rather than longer range. And as proven on February 27, firing AIM-120C-5s from extreme standoff ranges resulted in ZERO kill probability, since the targetted IAF Su-30MKIs had more than enough time to activate their EL/L-8222 ASPJs, each of which can simultaneously neutralize eight active emitting threats.

To KCHONTA: That’s exactly what happens when an army decides to induct 7.62 x 39 SLRs in 1963, followed by 5.56 x 45 SLRs in the late 1980s, and followed by 7.62 x 51 SLRs in 2016.

This is what happens when some Indians ASSUME that they are blessed with all-knowing wisdom. Jugaad obviously has its limits!!!

An accidental fire at a naval dockyard resulted in damage to a recently upgraded Kilo class submarine. The Navy is now checking critical components in the control room to get it back to functional duty. The INS Sindhukesari, which underwent a Rs 1,197-crore refit and upgrade in Russia and was shipped back in February, suffered the accident when certain indigenous components as well as a US-origin optronic periscope were being fitted onboard. While the submarine got a 10-year life extension upgrade at a shipyard in Zvyozdochka, Russia, a part of the work was to be completed at the Mumbai yard by the Navy, the biggest task being the integration of an L3 Communications periscope that would give it all-weather vision. Sources said the fire took place in the first week of March during welding. While the damage is believed to have been contained and there were no injuries, critical components in the control room were affected by the soot produced by the fire. These have to be individually checked and cleaned before the submarine can be given the all-clear. Officials said the submarine is being worked upon, and it would take at least another month before it can be deemed fit for service after the refit and life extension. Russian and Indian teams have been working on the submarine since the accident and components are being carefully analysed to assess long-term impact of the incident. The Kilo class submarines, named the Sindhughosh class by the Indian Navy, were acquired in the 1980s and have been prone to a number of accidents in recent years as their originally planned service life draws to an end. The INS Sindhurakshak was lost with its crew in an explosion in 2013 while torpedoes were being loaded, while a fire onboard INS Sindhuratna in 2014 led to two personnel losing their lives. Given a shortage of conventional submarines — the Navy currently has nine Sindhughosh class submarines, four Shishumar class and one Kalvari class in service — a plan was drawn up to squeeze some more life out of the Russian-origin fleet. India signed a contract with Russia in October 2015 to extend the service life of four of the boats by 10 years. The refit was not only a life extension but also an upgrade of combat potential.

To ANUP: 1) How did Pakistan have advance information of this attack if the attack was locally planned & executed by local human resources? 3) He never said that the An-32B should be replaced ASAP. And that’s because these very same aircraft never posed any difficulties between the mid-1980s & the year 2000 when they were flying the very same routes over mountains & seas. All An-32Bs should have been upgraded during the first half of the previous decade itself as per the aircrafts’ mid-life refit schedules. As this was not done, it not the aircraft’s OEM’s or aircraft design’s fault, but the fault is that of the IAF. With sufficient upgrading, such aircraft can last for another 30 years. And if India can obtain sub-systems & components from Ukraine & supply them to Russia for the IN’s 2 new-build Project 1135.6 FFGs, surely then it is equally possible for the IAF to procure An-32B-related components & sub-systems from Russia-based OEMs & supply them to Antonov for the sake of upgrading & refitting the IAF’s An-32Bs. Lastly, ACM Krishnaswamy is not a licenced aeronautical engineer. He is only an aviator & will therefore not be conversant with aeronautical engineering terminologies.

To DASHU: You seem to have missed this figure: As reported earlier, till May 25 this year, 33 locals had joined various terror groups, while 200 were recruited in 2018.

This clearly indicates a drastic reduction in the recruitment of locals, since all those Mullahs & Muftis of the Jamaat-e-Islami & the APHC factions involved brainwashing the local youth during the weekly Friday afternoon sermons in the Masjids & Madrassas of the valley have been apprehended & are now behind bars.

To PRAJJWAL DALAL: 1) If it is against the law of the land, then by all means such sites must be blocked.

2) Such folks can find it affordable to be delusional because they tend to have a rather over-simplistic definition of life & their mortal existence & hence always ASSUME that one size fits all. Such folks always revel in perceptions about how the world ought to be (thereby gaining entry into the delusional category), instead of adopting the pragmatic approach which calls for planning based on what the world is most likely to be in the days ahead. These folks simply shy away from understanding the nature of the beast, which is that every Pakistani has since October 1948 been taught throughout his/her schoolgoing years that India regardless of their respective religious faiths are ‘Kaafirs’ & are therefore inferior in all respects. This is reflected in a comment made yesterday by a Pakistani PTI MP during this talk-show (watch from 0:22:21 till 0:22:50):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ewg4oQpXm6w&t=197s

The same goes for the so-called suit/boot-clad intelligentsia of Pakistan (watch from 0:34:00 till 0:34:53):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZIJ2B85YuU

There is only a very tiny minority of Pakistanis inside Pakistan today who take the trouble to remain objective in their views/assessments, and the same situation prevails within Pakistani communities living abroad. The bulk of the Pakistanis who have been tutored & fed with gross distortions & revisionist versions of historical events remain brainwashed & if such folks constitute the ruling class of Pakistan, then only a thoroughbred MORON can be expected to harbour illusions about Pakistan normalising ties with India.

The perils of ASSUMING that Indians are blessed with all-knowing wisdom:

The Navy's 10 Type 877EKM Kilo-class submarines were all bought off-the-shelf from Russia & thereby the Indian Navy never possessed any design data for such submarines. It was in 2012 that some 'Smart Alec' within Navy HQ came up with the idea of installing US-supplied optronic periscopes (from L-3 KEO) on such submarines. But this option became unimplementable after April 2014 when the US imposed sanctions against Russia. Hence, a US-built periscope could never be sent to any Russian shipyard for installation on-board an Indian Navy-owned submarine that was to undergo a mid-life refit there. So what next? The 'Smart Alec' within Navy HQ decides to do the installation work in a Navy-owned Dockyard with Indian Navy engineering personnel. But how could they undertake such work when the design/engineering drawings of the submarine were not in the Navy's possession? The 'Smart Alec' then decides to take the risk of cutting open the submarine's coning tower & the inner hull sections for installing the periscope & then welding all the torn hull-sections back. All said, this was thus a 'trial-and-error' approach that was destined to produce disastrous results. And that is exactly what happened at the Indian taxpayer's expense!!!

A similar incident took place in the previous decade when the Indian Army procured four TPQ-37 Fire Finder counter-Battery radars from Raytheon of the US. Some 'Smart Alec' then within Army HQ decided to incorporate indigenously produced tyres on the wheels of the trucks housing the radars. But when the indigenous tyres were shipped to the US for being fitted to the rims of trucks' wheels, it was discovered that the tyres were incompatible with the rims. So what next? At far greater costs, the dimensions of the rims of the wheels were changed & new rims were manufactured, all just to accommodate the indigenous tyres!!!

Interesting innovation: Using the CPU of the IRST sensor as a common processor, the nose-mounted IRST sensor can now be networked with MAWS sensors to achieve 360-degree hemispherical IRST capability, which in turn can now employ conformal DIRCM apertures to shoot laser beams at all types of incoming guided AAMs & SAMs, thereby doing away with countermeasures dispensers & towed decoys:

What this Lady Staffer doesn't understand is that in foreign policy matters, there is no such thing as climbing down or stepping back. And like I had stated earlier, this lady staffer has a penchant for writing on how the world ought to be, instead of focussing on what the world is most likely to be in the days ahead. She is also the one who had stated on a TV channel 2 years ago that the US & Russia were tens of thousands of miles apart (she was obviously unaware of the Bering Straits)!!!

on the article “Export or perish”, MoD warns private defence firms

idrw.org .Read more at India No 1 Defence News Website http://idrw.org/export-or-perish-mod-warns-private-defence-firms/ .

it clearly comes out that the govt blatently is siding/pussy footing DPSU's while threating private sector. why the hell should the pvt sector get itself involved in defence.. Also why does neither FCCI or CII question / take the govt to task on being baised towards DPSu's

- Anything interesting in paris airshow for the indian armed forces?

-Does the PA still presently have a deployment ratio of 54.6%, while the resting and re-equipping ratio is 12.7%, and the remaining 33% is undergoing the training cycle? Is there still 140,000 PA soldiers deployed on the Afghan border? Whats the current state of the PA?

-5 CRPF officers killed in Anantnag, and more terrorist attacks in Pulwama. Will there be any response or is the GOI waiting for 40+ security personal to die before launching a response again?

-Is that true Prasun? Does Dhanush out-range any towed gun or howitzer in the Pakistan Army’s arsenal?

https://theprint.in/opinion/with-dhanush-howitzer-artillery-corps-lends-a-major-combat-arm-to-indian-army-at-loc/212161/

"Importantly, it also outranges any towed gun or howitzer in the Pakistan Army’s arsenal by a significant margin."

"Indeed, the Dhanush makes outranged Pakistani artillery units more vulnerable to Indian counter-battery fire, while itself staying out of reach. Dhanush’s longer range and high rate of fire will also make it useful in defeating localised Pakistan Army’s offensives in sectors of the LoC where the terrain favours the Pakistani side."

To AMIT BISWAS: LoLz! This ‘desi patrakaar’ has only now discovered what I have revealed & explained way back in 2016 here:

https://trishul-trident.blogspot.com/2017/01/mapping-out-incredible-rollercoaster.html

Worldwide, AIFVs/ICVs are developed in such a way that their performance parameters are synchronised with those of MBTs. In India’s case, which is the benchmark MBT? T-90S or Arjun Mk.1A or Arjun Mk.2? Or the FRCV? When there are no cleare answers to this question, then naturally there will be no specific answers to the question of a definitive FICV’s performance parameters, leave alone its series-production. And that is exactly why I have repeatedly suggested that what the IA requires are Heavy Fire-Support Vehicles like the BMPT Terminator, which can be seamlessly be integrated with the IA’s MBT fleet of T-72s & T-90s. Only then can the BMP-2 ICVs be upgraded to battlefield survivability standards that are acceptable to the IA.

To BENO: 1) There’s no available funding for additional 10-tonne NMRHs since various other procurement projects are already running about 10 years behind schedule. 2) That depends on the quantity specified by the IA HQ & its HQ Northern Command. 3) It is not delayed at all. It is the series-production capacities that are limited in India. 4) Tapas as of now is just a technology demonstrator & it is at least a decade away from entering service, that is if its developmental cycle is completed at all. 5) By next year, not this year for sure.

To THE HUNDRED: You are ASSUMING that all the PA’s hardware will be deployed against India. Situation is now wholly different sibce the Durand Line is not hotter than ever. PA’s deployment footprint is now greater than ever, in fact more than 60% along both the eastern & western fronts, as well as for internal security duties. And I had already mentioned that long-ranges for field artillery howitzers don’t mean anything at all if there are no corresponding long-range airborne battlefield surveillance platforms like JSTARS-type & HALE-UAV platforms. And over mountainous terrain, even the IA’s existing FH-77Bs can attain ranges of 41km as was the case in 1999 throughout northern J & K. Therefore, only a MORON will claim that the Dhanush can outrange the PA’s existing field artillery howitzers along the LoC.

To KAPIL: The shots within the FATF are called by the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan & Indonesia, and not by China or Malaysia or Turkey or even India.

Anonymous said...

Do we know how many PA units are actually deployed on the Durand Line?

Main reason for the question is that few years ago PA started transferring T-59s to FC as well as 122mm artillery. At the same time there where reports that they were planning to raise 90 further FC wings. I am not sure the size of each wing?

To MATTHEW: More than 250,000 PA personnel are deployed west of the Indus River & are facing the Durand Line, as per several Pakistani MPs who had been i8nterviewed in the recent past & whose video-lonks I had already posted. Only a quarter of the FC Wings have been raised & those Wings are all meant for policing within the erstwhile FATA & since they are all recruited from the local tribal populace, their allegiances are first & foremost with the tribal clans hailing from FATA & hence they are not trusted by the PA. Thus, the FC can never replace the PA because the latter’s role is frontier domination & counter-insurgency, not policing.

To KANE: The DRDO is the prime IPR owner for the HSDTV platform.

To PIERRE ZORIN: All that India has to do is drastically reduce her Palm Oil imports from Malaysia & proportionally increase her Palm Oil imports from Indonesia. Malaysia is also pissed off by India’s decision to create a joint naval task force with Indonesia (HQed in Sabang, Sumatra) for patrolling the Malacca Straits. I knew about this more than a year ago & therefore was shocked when India decided to send an IAF contingent to the LIMA expo along with tweo Tejas Mk.1 L-MRCAs—an utter waste of the Indian taxpayer’s money!

To BHOUTIK: Why are you so surprised? In any case the Bangladeshis are pissed off with China because of the latter’s unstinted support for Myanmar on the Rohingya issue. But Bangladesh had it coming, since its non-Muslim minority population too has had to seek refuge elsewhere since the early 970s itself due to majoritarian atrocities inflicted on the minority non-Muslim communities. So this is perhaps Allah’s way of dispensing justice by ensuring that what goes around, comes around. But despite all this, China remains hell-bent on maintaining its influence over Dhaka while at the same time trying to undermine India’s influence in both Bangladesh & Myanmar. And that’s why Beijing has off late been trying to resurrect the BCIM regional cooperation programme & link it to the Sino-Myanmar CMEC corridor. At the same time, what has gone unreported in India is that China had last May sponsored some attacks by local Muslim Arakanese against the India-developed port of Sittwe in order to subvert the India-Myanmar Kaladan Multi-Modal Transport/Trade Corridor project. It was then that both India & Myanmar jointly launched OP Sunshine-2 against China-supported insurgents within Myanmar’s Saigang region like ULFA & NDFB & NSCN-K, which resulted in several of the insurgent camps being destroyed through aerial straffing by Myanmar’s Mi-35P attack helicopters, while those that had managed to flee to Bhutan (via Arunachal Pradesh) have since been rounded up & have been handed over to India.

Interestingly, Bangladesh recently procured 250kg LS-6 gliding PGMs from China’s CATIC for its F-7BGIs, while Myanmar is finalizing a deal to procure Spice-2000 PGMs for its FC-1 L-MRCAs. But Myanmar wants RAFAEL to integrate the Spice-2000s to the FC-1s without making any changes to the FC-1’s weapons management system, i.e. it does not want China to come to know anything about the integration methodology know-how or the effectiveness of the Spice-2000.

And also try to analytically figure why all of the sudden the IAF decided to begin using civilian airports throughoput the North East & WB. Was the IAF responding to a crisis or is it preparing for an impending crisis:

http://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/2019/may/02/in-a-first-iafs-sukhoi-jets-operate-from-civilian-airports-in-eastern-sector-1971863.html

Such usage of a daily nature are still on-going every night between 1.30am & 3.30am.

To DASHU: So as you can figure it out from the above explanation to BHOUTIK, your’s truly has been rather busy off late in conducting the chowkidaari of the Chowkidaars.

To ASHISH GAUTAM & MOHAN: Great! It’s a call to arms at last! Here’s the info on the shootdown of the US Navy’s MQ-4C Triton:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlpU0OZ6R40 1) The US will definitely retaliate by perhaps that IRGC air-defence site that had shot down the HALE-UAS. 2) India won’t have anything to do or say about such incidents. 3) Loss for Pakistan since this will increase the prospect opf Sunni-Shia sectarian strife inside Pakistan. 4) No, they haven’t as yet. Iran is neither an industrialized nor any industrializing country. Just look at the sheer quantum of manufactured products they import.

But what I am far more worried about are the antics & characterless behaviour of the ‘Pappu’ MP in Parliament, as displayed yesterday:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cP8xHJc3WnM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOsrChMlnYU

To BUDDHA: Really? So time to feast on Roshogollahs, is it? Arey bhaayaa, how many times will Project 75I be swung from the revolving door, starting from RFI & then a never-surfacing RFP & now the EoI? To SBM: LoLz! What is meant by the term ‘definite’? If you have some images or videoclips of such a ‘test’ then can you kindly share with the rest of us here? Then there are the other questions that will help provide answers for your questions. For instance, weren’t the RVV MD and RVV SD AAMs first revealed at the MAKS-2009 expo? If yes, then would it not be logical to accept that such AAMs have long been integrated with members of the MiG-29 & Su-27/Su-30 families & therefore no test-firings or user-trials are reqd? Is it also not true that annual firings of AAMs & other guided PGMs by the IAF are always carried out at either Pokhran or Surya Lanka & not at Balasore? Is it also not true that the Union Budget for FY 2019 has not yet been presented in Parliament? And if not yet presented, then can we accept that the budget has not been approved & by consequence the MoD has yet to receive the funds reqd for procuring the RVV MD and RVV SD AAMs? And lastly, has anyone from Russia ever stated or shown that the RVV-BD LRAAMs have been cleared for use by members of the MiG-29 & Su-27/Su-30 families?

To BHOUTIK: Ah! The never-ending torret of those among 130 crore Indian citizens who prescribe how the world ought to be, instead of how the world is most likely to be!

Claim: India's stand on the issue has been that the present ground position of the opposing troops be marked and maps and agreements drawn. Also, that these maps and agreements are honoured and no violation of the positions thus marked takes place. Pakistan should have no problem in agreeing to this fair proposal. Subsequently, the issue can be taken forward. As for the remaining issues, it may be possible to find a workable solution for the Sir Creek. The third issue concerns Kashmir, which can definitely be put off for the time being and tackled at a later date.
Reality: Pakistan has NEVER agreed since 1989 to any follow-on delineation of the LoC on maps & since 2008 has insisted that both Siachen & Sir Creek issues be resolved TOGETHER. And since last year, PM IAKN has been insisting that the Kashmir issue be resolved first & foremost. In India’s case, Siachen is no longer an issue of dispute at all since it is firstly, part of the overall issue of PoK’s return back to India as prescribed by UNSC Resolution No.47, & 2) the Karachi Agreement clearly states that any undelineated area like no man’s land or unoccupied territory (which the Baltoro & Siachen Glaciers were prior to April 1984) within J & K belongs to India due to the binding legality of the Instrument of Accession. I had explained all this here:

http://trishul-trident.blogspot.com/2017/03/setting-record-straight.html

Claim: India's stance that talks and terrorism cannot go hand in hand runs counter to the very idea of reconciliation.
Reality: And how exactly can anyone reconcile with irreconcilables? By giving it to the self-righteous demands of the latter? Like the USSR did to the Afghan Mujahideen & later ended up self-destructing within 3 years? Like the world reconciled with the breakup of Yugoslavia & gave cause for celebration to the global jihadis who then believed that their jihad was unstoppable anywhere because Islam was destined to be the world’s only & best religion? Didn’t that spur the Jihad inside J & K in the 1990s & also lead to 9/11 & armed revolts in Indonesia, Thailand & The Philippines? Lt Gen Harwant Singh ought to read all about ex-ISI DG Javed Nasir if he wants to understand the nature of the best.

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

Cont'd from above…

Claim: There have been palpable indications that Imran Khan is moving in the direction of dealing with terrorists operating in Pakistan and tackling the spread of radicalisation in the country. Pakistan has travelled so far down the path of terrorism that this tap cannot be shut all too suddenly, nor that easily.
Reality: The reality is exactly the opposite. IAKN is the ultimate radical & revisionist. And that’s how he has been misrepresenting factoids, like these:

https://twitter.com/murtazasolangi/status/1141302260934369280

https://thecurrent.pk/pm-imran-misquotes-rabindranath-tagore-credits-his-words-to-kahlil-gibran/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAUbX-crzS8

Since he has also claims that the Riyaasat-e-Medina has been Islam’s greatest gift to the world, by implication he states that 1) everything before the dawn of Islam was in state of darkness where barbarity was the norm & therefore there was no civilisational existence anywhere else before the arrival of Prophet Mohd. 2) Islam is the world’s pre-eminent religion & therefore only Muslims are divinely endowed with the best qualities/traits. I suppose then that the day is not far when IAKN will order the PAF to bomb to smithrens the sites of Harappa, Mohenjo Daro & Taxila because they dated back to pre-Islamic existences & are therefore they represent grossly inferior human settlements not worthy of preservation (like the Afghan Taliban had destroyed Gautam Buddha’s statues in Bamiyan).

And if Pakistan can ensure ZERO infiltration of Jihadis into Xinjiang since 2001, then what prevents it from achieving a similar feat along the LoC & IB? Is it then common-sensical to grasp/grab Pakistan’s hand & keep holding it even if Pakistan claims this to be the only option available to India while at the same time Indian citizens continue to die year after year, while India waits in vain for Pakistan to acquire the capacities necessary for curbing anti-India terror incidents? Such offers/excuses have been peddled since late 2003 with no end in sight. Anyone accepting such an option is only being delusional & living in a state of denial.

Claim: A graduated realisation appears to be dawning on Pakistan that China is merely interested in its own game plan against India and using it as a proxy, driving it into more and more debt.
Reality: China is the ONLY foreign investor for Pakistan today & its use of Pakistan as an anti-India proxy suits Pakistan’s ruling elite just fine because Pakistan’s two-nation foundational ideology & national security state’s nature can be declared a success only after the destruction of the diametrically opposing formula, i.e. the all-inclusive democratic welfare state of India. And all this is written down in history/religious textbooks prescribed for all schoolgoing Pakistan children & college-going Pakistani undergraduates.

Thank you sir , putting light on Pakistan' duplicity.

History is for reference and by referring i see similar pattern

Early 1900's Jews were killed by Hitler and no one stood up until the madness hit their shores.
Early 2000's and still continues: Indians (regardless of any religion) were/are getting killed by Pakistan . No one paid heed to India's concern until terrorism was felt every where

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_terrorist_incidents_in_India. 99% origins from Pakistan

Because of international pressure and not self realized , pak continues its policy of kill indians.

As a sane human, every body wants peace but reality is different - In practical world all carnivores are caged.

Lets consider another hypothetical scenario , let's say India yield Kashmir considering peace.
Will pakistan stop the terrorism , no , instead pakistan military/'polictical' leadership will think it is because of their military and braveness that India yielded.
Contrary they will pursue the policy even stronger and under different name.

The pakistan military / political leadership success is only india centric : eat ; sleep ; conquer India (or) kill indians by any means; repeat.

Conclusion : Pakistan is national security state and for them peace lies if they suceeed to deliberately kill india as nation .So India must stand up very strong against this policy . In this game of chess 'extending friendship' is a passive move and the outcome instead will only create more threats.

It is time for us to stand up . Yes there will be blood shed but it is now or never

To JUST_CURIOUS: LoLz! But I have good news for you, which is that this time the FATF’s final decision-making is this October in which the world’s major powers (excluding China) who really matter within FATF (because it is these North American & European powers whose banking & financial transaction machineries are used by Pakistan) are determined to call Pakistan’s bluff once & for all. Countries like China or India or Russia really don’t matter within FATF since their currencies are not used by Pakistan for any financial transaction. And it was Indonesia, not India, which brought Pakistan’s case in front of FATF.

To JOYDEEP GHOSH: 1) Absolutely, for there are no exceptions. The social contract entered into between any ruling govt & its citizens dictate that the rule of law be applied on an equal basis on everyone. And BTW, here’s another case of despicable attudes displayed by the RASCAL:

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/rahul-gandhi-tweets-army-dog-squad-pic-with-new-india-caption-gets-trolled/articleshow/69892615.cms

I have a feeling that if his attitudes get exposed in this manner, he will soon get highly depressed & commit suicide, thereby following on the footsteps of all those whom he had in Parliament as being victims of majoritarianism! 3) naval accident-- again, seems like a far higher rate than global average, but what continues to ail navy?

CBI has registered a case on Pilatus bribery case. Now which way will BAT go ?

HAL seems to be more interested in getting purchase commitment from IAF.
IAF was pulled up by CAG for the same issue (PO without product) in IJT case.

HAL now says HTT engine needs modification , board will not release PO on engine manufacturer without
commitment from IAF.
How serious is this modification ? Do performance/certification tests need to be conducted again after modification ?
HTT is a copy of US BAT Texan Mk II that is a derivative of Pilatus 9. is it not ?

How about IJT, HAL keeps spinning some news on new design.
Will it ever be complete ? It too has engine related issues.

We talk of 5th gen gen, when we cannot get a BAT straight. Maybe IAF should go ahead for addln. 38 numbers Pilatus. Appoint TATA aerospace for MRO .

To RON: LoLz! It is interesting that all those involved or affected are alleging various conspiracy theories but no one is even hinting at any chances of miscarriage of justice, i.e. the legal verdict was based entirely on the strength of evidence presented & justice was done. Secondly, what is happening now on the legislative front are attempts to correct all the wrongs of the past, i.e. like certain minorities enjoying far greater rights than the majority, like Muslims enjoying the right to marry 4 times, creation of Sharia Courts & Madrassas for the Muslims, the annual Haj pilgrimage subsidies—all of which were/are in direct contravention of India’s secular status. And finally, there are those who tend to confuse the entire issue by presenting revisionist narratives like this:

https://indianexpress.com/article/opinion/columns/2019-election-outcome-once-upon-a-time-a-nation-5787244/

The writer of this distorted & factually incorrect Op-Ed needs to be asked whether the rights of Muslims to marry 4 times, creation of Sharia Courts & Madrassas for the Muslims, & distribution of annual Haj pilgrimage subsidies were bestowed/started in independent India after May 2014 or after January 1950.

To AMIT BISWAS: There’s no need for my assessment since the facts have been explained in great detail here:

https://twitter.com/JZarif/status/1142432319288090624

The SAM used for shooting down the Triton (and not Global Hawk, as some ‘desi’ patrakaars are claiming) was a Kub/Kvadrat, and not anything else. And as for the IAF’s enhanced vigilance throughout Northeast India, it likely has to do with either an impending or a pre-planned military coup in Bangladesh, probably inspired by the last attempted coup in Turkey by the Turkish Air Force.

Hi Prasun,

Thanks for all the clarifications.

Can I therefore correctly assume that new AAM purchases (as detailed in the Print) are the new RVV-MD and RVV-SD?

Also, a question about the MRSAM:
What is its ceiling?

I've seen early brochures putting it at 16km.
However, sometime later, I saw one with the ceiling at 20km for the IAF land based version.

16km seems a tad low when even Akash reaches 18km.

Finally, are there contracts or plans for 9 sqn of an extended range version of the MRSAM (range to 150km or whatever) for the IAF?

Any clarity is deeply appreciated and I want to thank you for being so responsive to queries.

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To VSJ: Regarding AAMs, kindly refer to my comment posted above on June 21, 2019 at 7:58 AM.

To VENKY & JUST_CURIOUS: Regarding the BTT scandal, here are the FACTS that the CBI has still not zeroed in on:

The HTT-40 project was conceptualised in 2009 by HAL to fulfil the IAF’s requirement of 183 basic turboprop trainers (BTT) powered by Honeywell’s TPE331-12B engines (since such engines were also destined for powering the HAL-built Do-228 & hence were being licence-built by HAL). The projected date of completion was between February 2013 and May 2016. However, due to the HTT-40’s development delays, the MoD authorised the import of 75 BTTs, following which an order for 75 Pilatus PC-7 Mk.2 BTTs was placed in May 2012. Consequently, the following questions now await answers:

1) Since HAL had from the outset stated that its HTT-40 would be using TPE331-12B engines & Hartzell propellers, why did the MoD under the UPA-2 govt not sanction the import of BTTs that made use of these two sub-systems? In other words, why was Embraer’s Tucano rejected in favour of the PC-7 Mk.2, which use engines supplied by Pratt & Whitney Canada?

2) Did no one from/in India advise the UPA-2-era MoD to opt for the Tucano so that there would be high degree of commonality of sub-systems between the Tucano & HTT-40, which in turn would have lowered the acquisition costs & per-hour direct operating costs of both types of BTTs?

3) And now, since the WRONG DECISION was made to procure the PC-7 Mk.2s, how can the HTT-40s be forced down the IAF’s throat, since this will result in two distinct types of BTTs with hardly any sub-systems commonality being used by the IAF? Won’t this now greatly increase the IAF financial burden for operating & maintaining its BTT fleet?

Answers to the questions I’ve listed out above will unravel this case once & for all. It now remains to be seen if the CBI will indeed ask such questions during the trial process. If such questions are not asked, then it can only mean that no one in India’s officialdom is interested in finding out the truth & consequently this will end up as yet another instance of a simple legal case being politicised for political witch-hunting.

In my view, A K Antony has a lot to answer for, & the Govt of India through its relevant agencies should also seek the assistance of the UK's MI-5 for obtaining details of the activities & banking details of the INC's 'Pappu', Sanjay Bhandari & Robert Vadra whenever they both have been together in the UK.

AMIT BISWAS said...

Baap re MI5 bhi involve hai???

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To SBM: Yes, only the RVV-MD & RVV-SD are in series-production now. The IAF’s MR-SAM & IN’s LR-SAM are one & the same & have identical service ceilings, as detailed in the LR-SAM’s poster shown at the Aero India-2019 expo. The Barak-8LR will be the IAF’s LR-SAM (apart from the S-400) & its full-scale model was also displayed at the same expo. I had uploaded all these images last February.

To AMIT BISWAS: Yes, because domestic surveillance in the UK is done by the MI-5. In India’s case, it is the Special Branch of the State Police (that was created during the British Raj to keep tabs on seditious activities, but which is no longer reqd, but is used for political purposes only nowadays) & the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB).

To JUST_CURIOUS: Of course, China should be confronted with such hard evidence so that the serial nos on those bullets & armaments can help trace their production batches, which in turn will lead to the authentication of the original end-user. And as I had explained several times before, Astra-2 is nothing else but an Astra-1 powered by SFDR.

This leverage should allow India NSG membership as well as border settlement especially CPEC through Indian territory. Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To AMIT BISWAS: Because the INS Kalvari was used only for stalking, i.e. hunting. CRV or controlled remote-viewing is a technique, not technology.

To RAD: The Kalvari easily recharged its batteries off the cost of southeastern Oman & then headed for the Makran coastline. No tech-transfer for SAFT batteries since the quantum of batteries reqd is quite small. Later Standard Batteries will likely indigenise them. R-37 is an LRAAM used for shooting down lumbering bombers like B-52. It is next to useless for shooting down MRCAs. That’s why no Russia-origin MRCA carries R-37s. I had explained this several times before. What the IAF requires are BVRAAMs with Mach 5+ speeds like those of the Meteor. Hence, the Astra-2 will have SFDRs NOT for longer range, but for higher speed. And how can MiG-29s or Su-30MKIs or Mirage-2000s operate from air bases in Srinagar when none of these air bases have HAS capable of accommodating them? The existing HAS can only house MiG-21s. The NG-HAS is still some years away from coming up in such air bases in J & K.

To UJJWAL: 1) It is the SSN programme. What folks forget is that the ATV project was initiated for developing & building SSGNs. The VLS for SLBMs was added to the design ONLY AFTER May 1998 & hence the first SSBN—INS Arihant—took such a long time to be launched. Thus, the original SSGN hull-design had to re-designed into a SSBN hull. For the SSN programme, all that is now reqd is to revert back to the original design that does away with VLS cells for SLBMs and one will have the perfect SSN that displaces only 5,500 tonnes. The PWR will be of the 4th-generation type, i.e. from Russia. The Arihant-type SSBNs all have 3rd-generation PWRs. 2) MPATGM should enter service by 2022.

To JUST_CURIOUS: 1) No confusion at all. I have always stated that the MPATGM will be the IA’s definitive shoulder-launched ATGM. 2) If Kaveri is to be fully indigenised, then it will take at least another 15 years of R & D effort. On the other hand, a hybrid version of Kaveri that uses sub-sections of the SAFRAN/SNECMA M88 turbofan will enable it to power the projected LCA-AF Mk.2 MWF.

To DRKRG: Yes indeed. Also, the HAL-developed LUH is single-engined, whereas the Ka-226T is twin-engined. In fact, the Ka-226T should never have been invited to compete & when it was, back in the previous decade for the RSH reqmt, Bell Helicopter Textron withdrew from the competition, citing the Ka-226T’s inclusion in the evaluations as an unfair practice. Now again the Ka-226T is being offered for the IN’s 111-unit NLUH reqmt, although the IN is not in favour of it.

Kudos to the Navy.

Their job will get harder once the 8 new PN subs arrive and they upgraded ones come back from Turkey. PN will have approximately 11+ subs. PN are lucky as the depth of the ocean drops quite quickly off their coast, especially the western part, hence they are harder to track.

There are various articles Prasun sir that they are developing/have developed mini subs to operate off our coast, which are almost impossible to find, due to the higher salinity and temperature off our western coast? How true are these?

Why open mouth when it is amply clear now that IAF messed up everything by gifting PaF upper hand a big moral boosting to enemy.

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To RAT: What is the endurance of such mini-subs? They can’t travel non-stop for 2 or 3 days & therefore they are always accompanied by far larger submarine tenders, which in turn gives away the positions/locations of such mini-subs. Nor can such vessels be carried piggy-back on SSKs.

To DASHU: Here are the IAF CAS’ statements:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68Rko_0PRsg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85-z--quYHA

India NEVER considered PoK’s airspace as part of India’s airspace. Not even after February 24, 1994 & even in mid-1999 the late A B Vajpayee had imposed the airspace restrictions (by not permitting the IAF to go across the LoC on bombing sorties). The same restrictions were in place on the morning of February 27, 2019 by the country’s ruling political elite. And the statement by anyone about the PAF not crossing the LoC & not violating India’s airspace is a no-brainer because the ordnance carried by the PAF’s combat aircraft did were indeed dropped inside J & K in the Rajouri & Nowshera sectors, meaning those PGMs did enter & violate Indian airspace.

But those hardly are crucial issues as far as daily governance goes. Far more important issues of concern include this:

Ajay Singh Bisht’s Way of Ensuring Law & Order:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cm_RSLVSXWE

The CM with 3 Names: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BN5L9FR71t0

Then there’s this:

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/india-business/nearly-impossible-to-run-operations-bsnl/articleshow/69920159.cms

B K Syngal, former chairman of VSNL and a telecom industry and a telecom industry analyst, says it is “better to shut down” BSNL if the governance in the company does not improve. “MTNL is already dead, and BSNL is now in the ICU. It has been a systematic destruction of PSUs by an overreach of the government. They don’t want to let go of their fiefdom,” Syngal said. “How can a person swim with hands and feet tied?”

In other words, just like HAL, BSNL too is being made to undergo multiple castrations since the early 1990s.

Will we threaten or chase all aircrafts over POK and GB including civvies?
Surely unlike LOC on ground, we cant keep up a perpetual state of skirmish as it will sap aircraft life and availability etc in era of shortfalls especially when needed at other fronts too?
Say even if we do achieve supremacy, they can still send strike teams from Punjabi bases once in a long while?

3) what are official ranges of astra and sfdr?

asd said...

Dear Prasun,

What's your say about triple talak practice in Muslim society? Why Muslim community is regressive in nature?

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To AGINIDEEP BAGCHI: Those are all unfounded rumours. Masood Azhar is mobile & is on the move.

To DASHU & AMOL & ASD: VMT, but reforms are of 2 types: administrative & structural. What is being proposed is the former, while the need of the hour is the latter, i.e. getting the DPSUs out of govt control & making them public-listed through substantial divestment, like Larsen & Toubro, 32% of whose shares are govt-owned. Administrative reforms will only result in the DPSUs’ ownership being transferred from one ministry to another, with the govt’s bureaucratic practices remaining the same. Consequently, the DPSUs’ Board of Directors will always be beholden to the whims & fancies of the Central Govt, thereby inhibiting administrative & corporate autonomy.

Let me explain with practical examples: Had HAL been allowed to function just like L & T, then it would have built five prototypes each of the LCH & LUH for accelerated/concurrent airworthiness certification-cum-weaponisation activities. While 1 of each would have undergone structural fatigue tests, the other two of each would have undergone flight-tests while the remaining two of each would have served as platforms for avionics/weapons systems integration. In other words, three separate R & D-related activities would have proceeded at the same time. But such technicalities are ALIEN to the MoD’s bureaucrats, who instead had insisted on a sequential approach by first seeing a flying prototype, & only then authorising the necessary funds for weaponisation. The same goes for the HTT-40 BTT too & also the Rudra. Had a public-listed HAL been able to raise the reqd R & D funds from the capital markets, then it would have been able to deliver readymade products on time & within budgetary limits. But since this has not happened, it has only led to corporate entities like HAL being subjected to systematic castration over the years by the MoD’s bureaucracy!

To VSJ: 1) The SOP relates to the acquisition of bomb damage assessment in real-time by using man-in-the-loop guidance techniques (along with RAFAEL’s Pegasus data-link pods) that are already available, but are not being utilised due to over-cautiousness. If the IDF-AF can obtain real-time BDA imagery from its PGMs despite the existence of Syrian S-300 & Russian S-400 LR-SAMs, then why was the IAF so over-cautious on February 26? 2) Simple: just declare a military no-flying zone over PoK (inclusive of Gilgit-Baltistan) that allows civilian overflights, but bars any kind of military air-traffic over that airspace. But to implement this, the IAF requires NG-HAS in all its air bases in J & K, plus the availability of 24/7 AEW & CS platform availability. Right now, none of the two are available. Until the IAF is equipped with at least 11 AEW & CS platforms, enforcement of no-flying zones will be impossible to implement. 3) Astra-2 with SFDR will have a 120km range. But far more important than that is the need to achieve a speed of Mach 5.

To ASD: LoLz! This is where the ‘desi patrakaars’ have got it all wrong & are confusing the whole country as well. There is no such thing as Triple Talaaq. After all, the word Talaaq has to be mentioned thrice for it to take effect & that too after issues like alimony have been duly settled as per Sharia Law. What the Govt of India’s proposed law serves to outlaw is the practice of INSTANT Triple Talaaq, i.e. announcing divorce orally on-the-spot or by SMS, Fax, e-mail, WhatsApp, without settling the issue of alimony; plus imposing financial costs on the party that is initiating the process of Talaaq, so that the aggrieved party is not left high-n-dry.

Maybe that will also stop you from jumping on to conclusions of the type you reached WRT Turkish elections. 3) Like I said before, the IAF is likely to end up with 50 additional MiG-29UPGs. All MiG-29SMTs (34 + 10) were built in one go in the previous decade. 4) I had always stated that the IN had specified a total P-8I reqmt of 28 units. And the ICGS reqmt is for 12 units but of a degraded version of the P-8I minus the armaments. MRMR aircraft is no longer reqd because the Sea Guardian UAS platforms can do a lot than any manned MRMR platform can & do it at far cheaper cost. Hence, now MRMR MPAs & the Do-228 MPAs are fast becoming unnecessary & far more expensive to operate.

hi prasun
i am given to believe that the spice weapon continuously sends imagery to the Pegasuses data pod that stores the video till bomb impact and the data link is highly secure .so it rubbishes the theory of liberals that call for imagery to prove their point .did the mirages also carry Delilah as stated by some stupid mag called the print.

you mentioned that the astra 2 sfdr has a range of 120 km .
were you referring to the no escape zone as the range seems to be less for a ramjet missile ?
what would be the NEZ of the amraam c-5?
can i equate the performance of the astra to the mica in range and performance ? how would you rate the desi seeker to the one on the mica?

as we have selected the ka-226 can we abrogate the contract in favour of the naval lch? would it not be better to have a 2 engine heli for over water operation?

if US throws sanctions on us how is it going to supply the p-8 , a-64 and others? dont you think they are shooting themselves in the foot regarding the f-21??

how is turkey over hauling the pak agostas ? when the oem is france ?? the spares have to come from france as turkey cannot make all the spare and they dont have a comprehensive tie up like us to france regarding subs??

how would you rate the arihant and chakra nuke subs sensors to the french scorpene?

given that cbi has filed an fir against swiss pilatus, dont you think it is a water tight reason for the htt-40 to be procured ?
how do you rate the pilatus to the htt-40 leaving all other concerns?

To RAD: Both Spice family of PGMs & PopeyeLite/Crystal Maze can relay video imagery in real-time back to the Pegasus data-link pod-equipped aircraft, but what if there’s dense cloud cover which over mountainous terrain tends to hand very low over the targets (as was the case on the night of February 26)? The imagery will thus show clouds that are hiding the targets below & therefore digital scene matching (DSMAC) will be impossible to achieve. The only sensor that can penetrate clouds is the SAR or X-band imaging radar & such a sensor is not available as yet for SPICE-type PGMs.

No-escape zone for any BVRAAM is at best 50km. All existing active radar seekers operating in Ku-band are similar in performance. But superior performance can be obtained from Ka-band seekers, which are still under development worldwide. Selection of Ka-226T does not mean that a procurement contract has been inked. US sanctions are related only to the S-400 LR-SAM that due to that the US will most probably not supply India with some of the comms hardware that India was earlier eligible to procure after inking the COMCASA agreement. But denial of such hardware won’t mean anything at all to India since homegrown SDRs are now available as alternative solutions. Turkey is only installing ESM sensors on the masts of the PN’s Agosta SSKs. As for BTTs, does the filing of a CBI chargesheet against Pilatus mean that all 75 existing PC-7 Mk.2 BTTs will be withdrawn from IAF service? If that’s the case, then it is perfectly alright to go for the HTT-40. For, at the end of the day only 1 type of BTT should be in service, & not 2 types. But I don’t think this case will be conducted in a strictly impartial or logical manner, since most of the WRONG questions have been raised by the CBI. These are the right questions that should be raised:

1) Why was HAL stopped from developing the HTT-35 BTT in the mid-1990s?

2) Can anyone from anywhere show any example of any country first trying to develop an IJT or AJT & then trying to develop a BTT? Because I can quote examples from Brazil, Japan, South Korea & Turkey to prove that countries have always tended to first develop BTTs, followed by IJT/AJT. Yet, why in India was HAL first tasked to develop the HJT-36 IJT & much later the HTT-40 BTT?

3) Why was asked to develop an IJT despite the IAF going for Hawk Mk.132 AJTs back in the previous decade? If the decision to go for AJTs of foreign origin was made as far back as 2004, then shouldn’t HAL have been authorised to develop the HTT-35 or HTT-40 in 2004 itself? Why was HAL given the green light only in 2011 to begin developing the HTT-40?

So finally, who were the prime conspirators against the HTT-35 or HTT-40 between 2004 & 2011? Were they instrumental in delaying the development of a homegrown BTT until it was too late & the import of BTTs was an inescapable fact-of-life? And even then, who successfully influenced the decision in favour of a BTT powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-series engine even after knowing fully well that the homegrown BTT would be powered by Honeywell TPE331-series engines? Did the conspirators therefore fully ensure that this would eventually ensure the death of a homegrown BTT’s development, simply because the IAF for sure was rightly expected to voice its disapproval for procuring 2 types of BTTs because this could not be accommodated within the IAF’s (or for that matter, any other air force’s) operating budget under any condition?

Unfortunately, none of the two CAG reports linked below answer the questions that I have raised:

To PK: Actually, it is the other way round, i.e. migration from west to east. There is no reason or evidence to ASSUME that human life in ancient northern India was far more advanced than life in ancient Mesopotamia. In fact, all available evidence points to the contrary, i.e. relatively sophisticated human settlements existed in southern Africa & Mesopotamia some 200,000 years ago (which conclusively disproves Charles Darwin’s Euro-centric theory of lateral, uninterrupted human evolution). In fact, in Siberia, evidence has been unearthed about human settlements 2 million years ago. What all this proves is that human evolution hasn’t been lateral, but has been cyclical, i.e. human civilisations existing, then getting destroyed & then beginning again & then getting wiped out again, & then starting again. From the starting over was not from scratch. Instead, the starts took off from where matters had been left off for destruction in the previous cycle. These will explain more:

AL Badr’s Camp at Oghi, Mansehra, KPK: 34.527587 N, 73.118541 E

You can view them all by using GoogleEarth.

To AMIT BISWAS: 1) Only guidance kits are imported. The explosive portions are essential dumb bombs already built by OFB. 2) All IIR sensors can be spoofed by flares in both IR & UV spectrum. But if an IIR sensor can acquire an image of its airborne target while in flight & then compare it with the image library stored within the AAM’s processor, then spoofing becomes very difficult.

IAF wanted a MMRCA tilted towards a strike role.
Rafael fits into that role.
Now if we buy 50 MiG 29 & 18 Su 30 MKI (do hope these can carry Brahmos), what happens to strike aircraft ?. Will we fall short of strike aircraft ?
Will the MMRCA 3 competition be needed ?

CAG pulled up IAF for placing order on ‘non existent’ IJT (IAF too learnt it’s lessons)
Now on what basis will they place order for 123 Tejas Mk 1A ?
When will order be placed, what kind of tests are required to qualify it ?

Tejas will require continuous addition & testing of new weapons or electronics , which Organization will own thirst aircraft for such purpose ? is there such a plan ?
Is it not better 2-3 be made available to IAF or DRDO or HAL for this purpose ?

How much do we save by buying a few unarmed P8I for Indian Coast Guard ? We will need to muster all the resources in case balloon goes up .

2)If the Pakistanis are forced to make a choice between being a bankrupt country with nukes or live as a non nuclear but sustainable middle income country, won't they still choose the former since they hate India so much?I think that they can only be denuclearized by force(by a military operation by a multinational coalition like you had suggested a couple of years ago)
3)What if India were to adopt a policy that involves capturing 1 km of territory along the LoC for every ceasefire violation(there are many ceasefire violations every month) made by Pakistan? How effective would that be?

Hello Sirji!Today, some uncomfortable questions if you don't mind.Just curiosity. Nothing else.I am asking you as you do have wide historical knowledge.
What we are seeing on day to day basis(even if we don't blindly trust any single channel) is that there is high amount of radiation among Muslim population which is rising.Just look at this:

-https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3675154/Left-wing-German-politician-raped-migrants-admits-LIED-police-attackers-nationality-did-not-want-encourage-racism.html

What is also apparent is that left is turning it's back on "other side of the coin",while right wing is reporting it but with added lies and exaggeration.Similarly, there are many issues which is greatly highlighted here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y18jUF1lWXU
And then we have lynchings, attack, hate speeches, etc.Every single person who highlights this is being tagged as "Sanghi" or RW activist or even Gau-Rakshak(!!!) by the left wing.Left wing was supposed to be liberal and tolerant.
What is your POV?I would be happy if you highlight some points which are missed.Free for knowing something new.
FYI:I have 0% political affiliations and I am almost an atheist with little interest in BAPS.Nothing more than that.

Thank you.

To RAD: VMT. 1) Presently, there are no SAR-equipped PGMs operational with the IAF. Once the BrahMos-A becomes operational, all-weather precision-strike capability will become possible. Even a Nirbhay air-launched LACM equipped with the imaging SAR seeker (developed by DRDL) will be able to undertake such all-weather strikes. 2) Financial loans reqd for purchasing the 8 x 032 Qing-class SSKs are being extended to Pakistan by China. 3) Ka-band seeker offers higher resolution accuracy & is therefore preferred for use by BMD interceptors. 4) Data Patterns-built & ECIL-built imaging SAR seekers are both being flight-tested now after being housed inside a modified SIVA pod. 5) All existing BVRAAMs use Ku-band seekers. Of course any present-day MMR can detect an F-35 if the latter is carrying underwing weapons.

Here is a good read:

https://kaypius.com/2018/05/10/the-untapped-potential-of-helicopters-in-india/

To VENKY: The additional MiG-29UPGs & Su-30MKIs are meant for replacing the MiG-21bis/BISONs & MiG-27Ms/UPGs. Hence the reqmt for more Rafales is totally different & the 2 types of reqmts don’t clash at all. Only 83 Tejas Mkl.1As are to be ordered (they haven’t been as yet) & orders will be placed only after HAL demonstrates the aircraft’s total compliance with the IAF’s set-down ASQRs. There are several Tejas PV & LSP airframes now available at any given time. for testing a wide variety of sub-systems, avionics, components & weapons. By way of an example, when the MiG-29 was being developed. A total of 14 prototypes were built for developmental purposes so that service-entry was guaranteed after the commencement of flight-tests 3 years earlier. P-8Is for the ICGS are NOT MEANT for use as weaponised platforms, since the ICGS is a policing agency & not a paramilitary or armed services agency.

To PRRANSHU YADAV: So far, only baby-steps have been taken for MIRV development. Series-production of MIRVs won’t begin before 2025 at the very best.

To KAUSTAV: Pakistan will be far worse off since its local manufacturing sector has been decimated after inking the 2006 FTA with China, while its investments in human resource development have been decreasing at an alarming rate as well. That country practically now has just an agrarian economy. Consequently, there has been a jump in narcotics production there & more & more such consignments meant for India are being detected now. Hence, two-way trade with Pakistan today via any route (land, sea or air) fetches India only diminishing returns.

And at the other extreme, we have whimsical notions of ‘strategic partnerships’ that are totally detached from ground realities, which result in such preposterous analysis:

https://www.orfonline.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Strategic-Convergence1.pdf

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To ENIGMA: 1) FATF blacklisting will make it almost impossible for Pakistan to engage in any form of bilateral or multilateral trade with the rest of the world. 2) No, such a choice will not be made because the elite of Pakistan dearly love their material wealth & exposure to the West for spending their wealth, especially on higher education for a select strata of the younger generation. 3) You will have noticed that for the past 3 weeks, there have been no reports of any ceasefire violation along the WB & LoC, despite this being the time when the ice starts melting & the nullahs (overf which no fences can be erected) become the favourite spots for infiltration.

To JUST_CURIOUS: The AIM-260 was developed back in the early 1990s by Lockheed Martin as part of a Cold War-era project, but was never mass-produced. Even the Raytheon-developed FRAAM version of the AMRAAM was never series-produced. PL-10 & PL-15 AAMs will not be made available to Pakistan, rest assured. Even the PL-8, which in reality is the Python-3 (whose production ToT was given by RAFAEL to China in the mid-1980s) has not yet been supplied to Pakistan.

To DASHU: I have several friends who in turn are friends with expatriate Pakistanis who in turn are close relatives of the natives of PoK. As I had stated earlier, more & more natives of PoK today are more inclined to sympathise with India than with Pakistan.

To SAMEER: You can easily Google for it & also search for such sites in YouTube.

To RAHUL: All Rafales to be procured for the IAF will have to be bought off-the-shelf since it is IMPOSSIBLE to locally manufacture them, as I had explained numerous times before. The F-35 has neither been offered to India nor has been sought by anyone in India.

To PRAJJWAL DALAL: Worldwide, there is no dearth of Muftis & Maulanas who are ill-informed, ill-educated & ignorant about the do’s & don’t’s of Islam. The same goes for all those showing off their faith in Shri Ram, Hanumaan, etc etc. I will recommend for you 2 presentations that explain it all:

Whom to believe?

To JOYDEEP GHOSH: 1) This is what I call the ‘Grasshopping’ syndrome, i.e. jumping to conclusions by throwing sanity into the dustbin. You are overlooking that INS Sindhu Kirti underwent its mid-life refit at HSL in Vizag, when the hull was torn open first for refurbishment (under Russian supervision & with Russian technical assistance) & only after that was the L-3 KEO-supplied periscope with optronic mast was structurally installed & only after that did all on-board wiring work commence. Hence, all welding work was completed before installation of on-board electronic systems & their wiring had been installed/laid. This could be done because the periscopes were supplied to the IN before 2014 when there were no US-imposed sanctions against Russia. In case of INS Sindhu Kesari, all hull-related refurbishment work was conducted in Russia since 2017 (when US sanctions were in place & hence no US-origin hardware could go to Russia for fitment) & so the periscope was fitted after the INS Sindhu Kesari returned to India, meaning no Russian technical support/supervisory team was available to advice the IN’s Naval Dockyard on how to pro0ceed with the work under circumstances that never existed before & therefore even the Russians did not have any SOPs reqd for undertaking such refit activity. Had the INS Sindhu Kesari undergone its entire mid-life refit at HSL, then there would have been no problem at all. So, the only question that requires an answer now is: why is the IN continuing to send its Type 877EKM SSKs to Russia for refits/refurbishments when HSL can already undertake such work? 2) All those MiG-29s are of the SMT version that were built in 2007 but they were never fully assembled. They presently remain in knocked-down condition. 3) Mi-35Ps won’t be retired before 2026. The IAF will take about 5 years to fully commission its new-build AH-64E Apaches into service.

Dear Prasun,

Greetings of the day!!

1.What are the black technologies possessed by the Russian federation? Did the erstwhile USSR and Russia have any such secret survivable tactical reconnaissance aircraft like the TR-3A and Astra?

2.Does Russia posses any interceptors or sam capable of shooting down the American black aircrafts like the Aurora/Astra, SR-75 Penetrator,TR-3A Manta? Is Russia having similar programmes of its own. ?

PLS shed some light on the Russian programmes.

3.Is our airforce even aware of these exotic aircrafts of Uncle Sam? As such do we have anything to prevent their unwanted loitering over Indian airspace or are we taking measures or developing a roadmap for contingencies involving the SR-72 and 75?

Thanks & Regards,
Pinkal Shah

it seems they have moved aerostats and long range radars to the border to prevent such surprise attacks by india . SO what would be the next option to hit at at terr camps. would it be ok to tak out the radar with anti radiation missiles?

what anti radar missiles will we be getting for the rafale? the alarm seems to have been stopped?

Sir,
1) as PAF is known to have been strengthening its Air Defense(AD) system in POK etc after balakot, n bigger camps being shifted deep inside Pakistan towards waziristan region etc, how can IAF strike targets deep inside Pakistan without crossing LOC?? Am asking coz usage of Brahmos can trigger a war, n possibility of targets being out of range of spice-1000 is their.
2) has Zhuk-AE been installed on MiG29's after zhuk-me had encountered problems related to MTTR reduced etc???
3) can MiG29upg both the upgraded ones n those which will come from Russia as additional purchase carry missiles/bombs with multi ejector pod??? I haven't seen yet that's y wanna ask...
4) why AD has been taken for granted by our forces/govt for so many years??? v don't even have an armoured vehicle mounted AD missile system to support tank regiments in field....

Can you throw some more light on what exactly you have suggested regarding segmentation and supporting indian shipbuilding industry

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To PINKAL SHAH: 1) There is not much clarity about Russian efforts to re-engineer or reverse-engineer crashed or recovered alien spacecraft. Nor is Russia believed to have invested any resources on developing such types of recce aircraft. 2) Russia’s existing ABM interceptors can easily shoot down hypersonic recce aircraft possessed by the US. 3) Of course it is aware.

And here’s a very interesting explanation of differences between extra-terrestrial & celestial entities:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6z80kwMtN0

To RAD: Launch of surface-to-surface BrahMos would have invited retaliation in a similar form from Pakistan’s LACMs against which India does not possess adequate cruise missile defence capabilities. Aerostat-mounted & ground-based radars can always be jammed. The NG-ARM will be on the Rafales.

To ANKIT KUMAR: Such roadmaps frequently change. The generally sought quantities are 2 aircraft carriers, 12 DDGs, 24 FFGs, 12 NOPVs, 18 Corvettes, 24 submarines, 4 LPHs and five ocean-going fleet oilers.

To PRAJJWAL DALAL: There are firm indications that the sudden growth of ISIS in J & K and elsewhere in the region are all efforts by Pakistan to legitimise the need for the Afghan Taliban so that ISIS is projected as the greater threat, thereby leading to the recognition of the Afghan Taliban as a legitimate politico-military entity by not only China, Iran & Russia, but also by the Central Asian Republics. And what’s the evidence to support all this? Elementary: all ISIS combatants returning back from Iraq & Syria make their entry into South Asia or Central Asia through Pakistani ports of entry.

To JOYDEEP GHOSH: 1) For amphibious assault operations. 2) It will be good for the IAF to procure no more than 5 of them just as attrition replacements.

To ASHISH GAUTAM: 1) Why should the IAF not cross the LoC? After all, it did so on February 26. 2) No one in India has so far ordered any type of AESA-MMR from anyone in Russia. 3) Yes, they can, provided such multi-ejector racks are developed in India. 4) Because the planning for force modernisation has been ad hoc & service-specific, instead of having a tri-services integrated plan for air-defence.

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To VJAIN: What I had suggested was that those shipyards making aircraft carriers, DDGs, FFGs or corvettes should not be allowed to bid for making OPVs or NOPVs or FAC-Ms or interceptor boats or survey vessels or barges. Such vessels can easily be built by private-sector shipyards.

To BUDDHA: Even Indian shipyards like that belonging to Larsen & Toubro can deliver warships ahead of schedule, but neither the IN nor the ICGS has the available manpower meant for taking early delivery of the vessels.

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To AMIT BISWAS & ANKIT KUMAR: Mark my words: the MoD’s & IN’s decision to separate the NGMV & NGC projects are TOTALLY FLAWED. If the In desires procuring 600-tonne or 800-tonne NGMVs, then I’m afraid the IN is still thinking of fighting the previous wars. Today, NGMVs are corvette-sized displacing up to 2,500 tonnes so that they can launch both LACMs & ASCMs from the very universal vertical-launch cells. That’s because today’s BrahMos-1s can be used against both warships & land-based static targets, while tomorrow’s Nirbhay will have imaging SAR seekers that too can be used for land-attack & anti-ship strike. In addition, such warships don’t require PDMS for air-defence (like Barak-1), but Barak-8-type SAMs for defeating supersonic ASCMs. So, I hope that sanity prevails & the NGMV & NGC projects are merged so that a common-hull design gets selected. Such hull-designs can be of local origin, or of foreign origin.

As for jamming, everything can be jammed. It all depends on jamming capacities, i.e. whether the jammers are contained within a pod, a business jet or a widebodied airliner-type of platform.

To ASHISH GAUTAM: LoLz! Which radars? Which SAMs? How many of them? And that too when that country has been forced to reduce its defence budget & spend more military funds on fortifying the Durand Line? Hence, don’t believe rumours. Because, Pakistan’s elongated & narrow geography ensures that its long-range airspace surveillance radars located even in western Pakistan can look 80nm inside Indian airspace, as this 80nm is part of the PAF’s air-defence identification zone (ADIZ).

To ARPIT KANODIA: To me, all 3 participants in that programme were either not focussing on the point of discussion, or were unaware of factoids. Firstly, only Pakistan & the Princely State of J & K had inked the Standstill Agreement. India did not as she had no desire for forcibly annexing J & K. Secondly, by mid-1948, 2 options were available to India: either continue with a war of attrition until the numerically superior India prevailed & won, or; open a second front in Punjab against Pakistan so as to decisively defeat a numerically inferior PA. The second option was discarded by both India’s civilian & military leadership because a full-scale war in the Punjab would have added further salt to the wounds of that state & elsewhere in northern & central India & this in turn would have led to further exodus of refugees from both sides, leading to an unmanageable bloodbath. So that left only the first option, but here too it has since emerged that it was Sheikh Abdullah who discouraged Pandit ‘Chacha’ Nehru from liberating Gilgit, Baltistan & even Poonch by giving the excuse that his political influence in those areas was marginal & he therefore was not confident of convincing the local inhabitants there of siding with India. This was clearly stated by the late Kuldip Nayar in one of his books. Hence, to lay the blame squarely at Pandit ‘Chacha’ Nehru’s doorstep is wrong & untenable. Others too have to take responsibility for accepting the UN-mandated ceasefire in August 1948.

To me, the greatest mistake was made NOT in mid-1948, but in late 1971 and early 1972. Firstly, the war objectives for the western front were never spelt out with clarity by India’s political leadership, which in turn led to IA HQ adopting an extremely cautious approach & limiting itself to only capturing tactically insignificant enclaves with the exception of Chicken’s Neck. For instance, instead of trying to capture an extremely large chunk of territory like Shakargarh Bulge, the IA should have been instructed to capture only areas that contained Sri Kartarpur Sahib & the town of Umarkot. Secondly, the IA should have been authorised to capture as much territory of PoK as possible, reaching out as far as Skardu & further west beyond Chammb. But the ultimate disaster took place at Shimla in June 1972 prior to the Shimla Agreement being inked, during which India for inexplicable reasons totally capitulated to Pakistan. I have details of what transpired then & will scan the pages from the relevant books to reveal what really transpired there.

Meanwhile, the senseless debate on J & K continues here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQFKp_Q_9rM

Delusional folks like DAVID DEVADAS (the so-calledcJ & K expert) have the cheek to say that the inking of the Instrument of Accession by Maharaja Hari Singh tantamounted to an annexation of J & K by India! This is how disinformation spreads, thanks to the usage of wrong words. I guess such folks should be told to bring along an English Dictionary for checking out the meaning of certain words before they are uttered.

And on the other end of the extreme, we have MORONS giving distorted interpretations/spins to foreign TV channels:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3RINtClOsM

Given India’s demographic realities, it is always a given that on any given day if there is 1 atrocity carried out against minority communities, then there are 10 atrocities carried out against majority communities by members of the same communities, & often due to the same reasons. Therefore, to state that a particular community is being subjected to increasing quantum of atrocities is factually wrong/incorrect.

Prasunda,
Thanks a lot for all the lovely infobits.
Sir, a query also naturally arises with regard to your suggestion for the NGMV being of 2500 Tons displacement. In that case, the Kamorta or Project 28 ASW Corvette design should easily be adapted with weapons, radard & other sensors for ASuW and Land Attack roles in Littoral area like against the Porkies or general policing in the IOR. That would also give commonality of design which would be excellent both for logistics as well as subterfuge. The P-28 class seems huge just for ASW role, though endurance on patrols matter. Could you share something on this matter, Sirji.

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To KAUSTAV: That is EXACTLY the point I was trying to explain earlier, i.e. using the same baseline design of the hull for both the NGMVs & NGCs while making certain mission-specific structural modifications, such as adopting the concept of Integrated Mast' for housing L-band, S-band, X-band or Ku-band active phased-array apertures meant to serve as radars or as active jamming emitters. As for universal VLS cells capable of housing both BrahMos-1 & Nirbhay cruise missiles, provision should be made for carrying at least 8 BrahMos-1 & 12 Nirbhay LACMs, plus 24 Barak-8 SAMs.

Enigma said...

Yes sir.In my opinion, the two biggest blunders that India made were as follows:1)returning the Haji Pir Pass to Pakistan after capturing it in 1965 and 2)In 1971,India captured a lot of places in Tharparkar district of Sindh(that has many Hindus). One of the captured places was Nagarparkar that has Hindu and Jain temples.Sindhis are the only group of Indians who do not have their own state.India should have kept these captured places and created a state for them.
Yes,India did have a golden opportunity to liberate PoK in 1971.We did liberate some villages in Baltistan like Bogdang,Turtuk,Thang, etc but wasn't the fact that we did not liberate the entire PoK in 1971 more due to pressure put on us by the Soviets(who had already vetoed 2 UNSC resolutions) and the Americans?

Hello Sirji!

1.I noticed that many Pakistanis who aren't even living in Pakistan, and the ones who are called intellectual are the ones who speak half truths at many occasions. What I do believe is that they don't give a damn about truth and peace. The reason why they oppose deep state is because it's harmed/harming them. But once it's over,or once it comes to fundamentals like two-nation theory, they would be no different from folks like Hamid mir or any other person in Pakistan. My question is,you would have interacted with such folks in your life, then what do you think that we,as Indians should keep in our mind before listening to them? We know about Zaid Hamid or Orya Maqbool Jaan, but such folks are truly confusing hyper-Indians who get attracted merely when some Pakistani say some sweet lines.

2.What's with US? Is it true that US is finding that both GOI and GOP are lying(as been narrated by folks like Vipin Narang) or there's something else? If so, do you find any harsher turn by US towards Pakistan in near future?

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To SUMANTA NAG: A) The designation won’t mean much because the BLA is not a monolith, but is divided into various groups engaged in different areas of Balochistan for autonomously conducting operations. Nor are the BLA’s bank accounts anywhere in the US. Plus, no one can close their eyes to this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6--kCVLqrPc

B) The discontent there is growing by the day. C) There was nothing shown in that videoclip that provided any clinching evidence. On the other hand, the evidence provided by the IAF through radar tracks is far more convincing. D) No, because the DF-31A & DF-41 ICBMs use such cold-ejection techniques for the missile to leave its cannister.

To JOYDEEP GHOSH: 1) That submarine was used for undersea espionage. 2) India had to oblige because a lot of unsavoury Indian citizens hiding in the UAE also have been sent back to India on India’s request. Reciprocity is the name of the game. How many unsavoury German citizens have been or are living in the UAE? 3) Everything is possible, for where there is a will, there will always be a way.

To PRAJJWAL DALAL: 1) Most Pakistanis who are living abroad permanently hold dual citizenships, i.e. they are also Pakistani citizens, since Pakistan allows its citizens to hold dual citizenships. And since the Pakistani educational syllabus is totally distorted & non-factual, it is almost impossible to find a rational Pakistani in existence. 2) Folks like Vipin Narang thrive upon myth-creation/myth propagation, rest assured. And here’s more data concerning yesterday’s arrests in Gujranwala & Multan:

Dear Prasun,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLANNu81_vA

Unfortunately, there is no one in India who can analyse matters WRT China in such depth.

To VED: 1) If MMRCA 1.0 was so messy, then rest assured that MMRCA 2.0 will be doubly messy, since it has replaced the earlier & saner 114-unit SEF reqmt. 2) A check of global submarine bases will reveal that such bases are NEVER sited on island-chains that stand exposed to the high seas on all sides. Instead, such bases are located within coves or channels.

To PRATAP: IMF has not cleared a bailout. It has only provided a bridging loan & now it is up to Pakistan whether or not to stay within the IMF’s 3-year programme, since in all previous programmes, it was Pakistan that unilaterally walked out. But this time it is different because the IMF includes several FATF clauses that require compliance. On top of all that, NONE of the lenders have given Pakistan aid money. They are all loans that need to be paid back. Now, if Pakistan is now exporting only mangoes, how the hell can it be expected to emerge out of any financial crisis? So, for all intents & purposes, Pakistan is now well inside a bottomless pit. The PA’s COAS was in the UK to lobby for the prosecution of Altaaf Hussein & some self-exiled Baloch separatist leaders. Najam Sethi doesn’t have the guts/balls to spell out the truth for fear of his life & those of his loved ones. If you want to know the state of Pakistan’s media, so read this:

https://theprint.in/opinion/letter-from-pakistan/its-not-just-people-in-imran-khans-naya-pakistan-interviews-go-missing-too/257966/

And here’s a detailed explanation of the IMF financial package:

Pakistan Economy Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=734kXZun8lQ

This too is interesting:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D-m4w1TUwAAxcel.jpg

Now, why do these ‘Kashmiris’ all end up in Karachi or elsewhere inside Pakistan for pursuing medical studies? Isn’t there even a single medical college anywhere inside PoK? If not, then what does this indicate?

Prasun K. Sengupta said...

To JUST_CURIOUS: 1) Yes, MMRCA-1 was indeed a totally flawed process simply because (as I had explained several times before) no one in the world has licence-built 4th-gen combat aircraft & for India to expect licence-building Rafales was an INFANTILE thought. MMRCA-2 (for 36 Rafales off-the-shelf) was what should have been initiated back in 2007, as I had explained in detail in a dedicated thread before. MMRCA-3 is what the 114-unit reqmt is all about. And no matter which MRCA is chosen, licence-building any chosen 4-gen MRCA will be a financial no-brainer, rest assured. 2) because NO Indian politician can guarantee 100% honesty in such deals, nor does any politician have the brains/capacity reqd for giving such guarantees. Just check how many sitting MPs in Parliament have criminal cases registered against them. If political parties can’t produce homest MPs, then how can they be expected to produce honest procurement deals? 3) Jaguar IS/DARIN-3 upgrade is proceeding on schedule now. But why did HAL get involved in upgrading such a small number of Mirage-2000s while it was denied participation in the far larger MiG-29UPG upgrade project (the IAF’s Nashik-based 11 Base Repair Depot is upgrading the MiG-29s)? This defies logic!!!

To BUDDHA: LoLz! Rest assured that the funds reqd for defence spending are more than enough. It is another matter that the spending processes are totally flawed & the bloated IA gets to spend the maximum amount when it should be the IAF & IN that should be getting the majority of the funds. Even in China, it is the PLA Navy that gets 53% allocation of the annual defence budget.

To PRAJJWAL DALAL: 1) Actually, that is meant for attracting students from India’s immediate neighbours. Don’t forget that within the coming 50 years due to rising sea-water levels, countries like Maldives & Mauritius won’t exist. So where will their populations go to? They have choice no choice but to choose from either India or Sri Lanka. So, such funds are meant for preparing for such a future addition to India’s population. 2) Such reportage also carry the risk of being discredited within a short timespan. Meanwhile, here is another brilliant analysis about how Pakistan is headed for financial dismemberment:

Prasun,

Thx for your replies but if Jag upgrades are only limited to darin 3 stds what the point as the jets are already underpowered. will the engine upgrade ever happen and if it happens the jets will need to be again pulled out of service for the overhaul .. also as times passes will it make sense to do the upgrades?... will jaguar MAX ever be a reality?

Prasunda,
A logical move https://theprint.in/defence/army-chiefs-new-experiment-major-general-is-ceo-of-ak-203-rifle-factory-in-amethi/259019/
Another measure should also be taken. That is, all staffs of the factory should be taken from those army soldiers who retires prematurely from service. It will create more disciplined and more efficient workforce rather than civilian people. Your view please.
Thanks, Regards.

I wonder if the designation of BLA is a quid pro quo, its what Pak and China got for agreeing to Azhar being listed?

Currently Im is getting very close to Putin and has even been invited to a conference in Russia by him. Where do you think this will head to?

Im is also going to USA, I have a feeling that him and Trump will get on very well. Trump is so reported- does not trust his military generals about Afghanistan and wants out but needs to keep an eye on what happens there. They will ask Im to do that, what can he ask for in return?

What if USA under trump starts to give aid to pak again, what are our options?

1) Very much relieved if true

https://sniwire.com/defence-security/in-army-restructuring-tweaks-in-plans-against-china/

Sir, now that IBG have been test bedded, any numeric breakup leaked to you? Seems like these are brigade sized, allocations on the lines of american BCT.

2) Was thinking how do smaller IBG size units do not get overwhelmed by much larger division sized units while invading enemy territory in initial phase of war, if they have no technological superiority?

3) how is cyber division planned to be deployed? Is it going to be paper formation attached to other units, or separate fighting force albeit for virtual battlefield?

4) any scope of milking few units from RR and reforming them into a dedicated infantry formation on LOC? Not a formation that needs to 3 week reorientation.
Maybe free them by adding more CAPF on deputation for counter insurgency? 1 company per RR battalion should give enough to raise 1 division and 1 briagde.

5) Does RR and regular army conducts counter insurgency in NE too, or just Special forces aiding Assam Rifles and CAPF/Police?

Thanks

To JUST_CURIOUS: No, both DARIN-2 & DARIN-3 Jaguar IS will get F125N turbofans. The DARIN-2 Jaguars will then be upgraded to Jaguar MAX standard. Engine installation is of the drop-in type which can be conducted at the air base itself. The budget for India’s defence spending is enough to meet genuine reqmts, and not the wishful reqmts of a bloated IA & an unproductive military-industrial complex. For instance, Russia manages with far less, as its annual defence budget is only US$50 billion.

To UJJWAL: But why not try to get business professionals as lateral entrants to run the OFBs? Why waste a serving IA Maj Gen for doing such a job? Is this done anywhere else in the world?

To RAT2: It was a quid pro quo to please China, but at the same time the move is useless since no one is even contemplating the extradition to Pakistan of the BLA’s Chief patron Harbeyaar Marri. As for IAKH being invited to both Russia & the US, the intention is to force Pakistan to capitulate to the US & Russian demands for de-weaponising as many factions of the Afghan Taliban as possible. And that’s because everyone knows that on-going talks with the Afghan Taliban will go nowhere since the US has been constantly changing the goalposts & has now declared that it will never terminate its military presence in Afghanistan, which is directly contradicting the main demand of the Afghan Taliban. The US is already giving aid to Pakistan, because of the US$6 billion meant for Pakistan, US$4 billion will be used by Pakistan to pay for its past IMF loans. Hence, in real terms, the IMF is directly injecting only US$2 billion into Pakistan’s economy. Thus, Pakistan is now in an eternal debt trap & has no more cards to negotiate with either the US, or Europe, or Russia.

To VSJ: 1 &2) And despite all my previous explanations on the impossibility of creating IBGs, you still chose to lap up that report lock, stock & barrel! Just read that report a few more times & you will hopefully spot all the inherent flaws in that reportage. For starters, how can divisions separated hundreds of km from one another become parts of any functional Corps? In times of emergencies, it will become a logistical nightmare to assemble these divisions into their wartime areas of responsibility. Secondly, the very notion of having separate Infantry Battle Groups (IIBG), Integrated Armoured Battle Groups (IABG) or Integrated Artillery Battle Groups (IArtyBG) is a negation of the term ‘Integrated’. Without armour, mechanised infantry cannot survive & without artillery, both infantry & armour cannot survive. And without air-defence artillery, none of the other three can survive. Hence, any IBG will be reqd to have all such elements embedded within one single warfighting formation. Finally, if it is not known what quantum & type of fire-support will be delivered by the IAF, then how will the IBG commander be able to plan for mobilising his reqd field artillery resources? Will the IAF always be on hand to deliver immediate close air-support?

Hence, the bottomline is as follows:

1) IBGs cannot be planned for & raised by only the IA. It has to be a joint services endeavour in which the first shots will have to be fired by the IAF, meaning the IAF & not the IA will have to become the lead service-provider for the IBG to successfully complete its taskings. So, anyone talking about the IBG as being only an IA-led affair is talking & spreading BALONEY.

2) Since speed & tempo are of the essence is making quick breakthroughs, veryical envelopment tactics are reqd, meaning an IBG will require its own integral RSH helicopters, attack helicopters, battlefield surveillance helicopters & medium-lift troop transport helicopters. None of these are presently available within the IA.

Cyber Division is only meant for information warfare. It will be located deep within the hinterland since its expertise is not meant for battlefield applications. RR is only meant for use within J & K, and nowhere else.

Do you think Super su 30mki be finalised
As per your description above IBG will in real fighting situation be critical nightmare if no synargy or deep understanding established with air force .

VSJ said...

Well thats depressing.

If we buy extra su30 and mig29s, along with 2 more rafale squadron, who will be tasked with interdiction role pulling high daily sortie rate like you mentioned?
Seems like jaguar and mirages will be busy with close air support or deep penetration?

Will we wait for Tejas mk2?

Thank you sir.

Extradition won't happen but being associated with him (or BLA)is now a major risk. People may back away now.

I thought Trump has stopped all aid to Pak. This is disappointing, what amount of aid is still getting through?

If the worst were to happen, Taliban becoming the ruling party in Afghanistan, what options do we have, considering both China and Russia now have shown willingness to co-exist with the Taliban?

Also couldn't agree more that IBG's cannot survive a fight against Pak without air superiority. That how uncle SAM fights.

Hello Prasunji!

1.Remember I asked you about Iranian activity in Kashmir few months back? Well, it seems that the issue of whose reference I was asking you blew up! First it was ex-RA&W officer RK Yadav who claimed about Ansari, now it's another officer called NJ Sood. Your thoughts?

2.You said that funds are enough.Do you think ordering new MMRCA(F-21) would be viable if additional Mig-29s, Su-30MKI solution is to be ignored? If so when it would likely happen, as per your calculations?

3.Interestingly, you said that Taliban talks would go no where and US wouldn't leave Afghanistan. Is that true, then is that possible that US would use military as much as it did post-2001? If so,then would it be inside pakistani territory or US will repeat mistake of aligning with Pakistan? Words are floating from few American think tanks that US will try to repair back the relation with Pakistan so that it could have over taliban.Your POV?

Thanks sirji....

Sir ,
When I was kid, I remember the monkey man episode, and as kid I was terrified.

Also at same time muhnochwa episodes was going on in UP.

Then there were reports that IB got involved, then ISRO. I remember at one stage ISRO unofficially stated that it might ETB.

Also I remember IB stated they recorded a being on footage.
https://m.timesofindia.com/city/lucknow/Extra-terrestrials-invade-UP-says-IB/articleshow/19397236.cms

But after all that, it was nothing. And all things were gone by year 2003. What was special about 2002?

Also it was just mass hysteria, or something else?

To ACCIDENTAL LOSER: What I had explained earlier was the difference between structural reforms & administrative reforms. The former involves joint services operations & joint theatre commands, whereas the latter involves getting rid of mid-level officers from IA HQ, cutting down on administrative/logistical manpower reqmts, etc etc. But since my previous explanation, another explanation in greater detail is offered here:

https://theprint.in/opinion/narendra-modi-govt-cant-increase-defence-budget-best-it-can-do-is-go-for-reforms/258130/

To BUDDHA: Both the Super Su-30MKI upgrade & Jaguar IS re-engining will be taken up later this year, as will the contract for additional MiG-29UPGs.

To VSJ: Tejas Mk.2 is DEAD, period. Now it is the turn of the LCA-AF Mk.2 MWF to be developed.

To RAT: Most of your questions have been answered by a plain-speaking US citizen of Pakistani origin in this talk-show that was aired yesterday:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jw6thLIQM90

Also, let’s see what the ICJ’s verdict is regarding Kulbhushan Jadhav. Let’s see when Pakistan decides to blink.

To AMIT BISWAS: FYI, I had given this update last Febriary. And here’s the evidence from the Aero India-2019 Show Highlights thread:

https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-z9J_b6k9VLw/XG0revJhFmI/AAAAAAAAQsE/0teeIXXDGjkkqJs8z5bt7v7QhJlweWmhgCLcBGAs/s1600/Uttam%2BAESA-MMR%2Bon%2BTejas%2BPV-1.jpg

To PRAJJWAL DALAL: 1) What is there to say or comment upon? 2) No. If 50 additional MiG-29UPGs are procured and if the Super Su-30MKI upgrade project & Jaguar IS re-engining project all take off this year, then there will be no urgency for procuring 114 F-21s. Instead, that money will be better spent if the next tranche of 44 Rafales are ordered off-the-shelf. 3) It is all explained here in clear terms:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jw6thLIQM90

To ARPIT KANODIA: These events happen from time to time in areas where electromagnetic anomalies exist, meaning certain inter-dimensional phenomena are manifested in areas where such anomalies take place, like Skinwalker Ranch in the US.

1) My question is, "What is the difference between Tejas Mk.2 and LCA-AF Mk.2 MWF"? Also in what way is LCA-AF Mk.2 MWF better than the Tejas Mk.2 or is it a compromise.
2) Is naval M2 going to be based on LCA-AF Mk.2 MWF or Tejas Mk.2?
